It was designed to protect the rights of the barons rather than the rights of the common people. Today, only 4 clauses of the original Magna Carta that are on the statute books today. Those 4 clauses come from the 1225 version of the Magna Carta, not the 1215 one. The 1225 version of the Magna Carta does not contain article 61.
