Jim has a 14 year old house guest. She has come for the 3rd summer.Jim and she get a long He discusses what he is learning from her as well as mentoring her When he uses a word she doesn't understand he asks her to Google it and screen shot for reuse later in life He tells her he thinks she will do great things Mark says to tell her not to ever do anything because someone says she should Mark talks about the subconscious and how Jim's mentorship could change her life One of the words Jim and his guest Googled the word subconscious and how unconscious is related Jim reads the definition of "subconscious" Mark says he heard that we are formed by the age of 4 or 5 and then your environment kicks in. Parents, friends, relatives, worldview, etc… Jim recognizes his responsibility as a role model Mark also recognizes the importance of mentorship. Then he goes into how we have control over our thoughts yet rarely exercise control over them Mark talks about his dream and how it was so positive rather than the normal conflict memory The guys talk about dreams in specific and general and Mark attributes it to his inner work We can control ourselves and our subconcious thoughts toward a better life You either get bitter or you get better and its a choice Jim talks a bit more about his house guest Mark talks about a call with his friend and his question about the kids Mark told his friend that he was happiest that all 3 kids take responsibility for their own happiness Once you figure out it's all up to you, things get better Jim talks about fabricated fun spots and the guys agree they don't like them They both share childhood vacation stories Mark asks what are those subconscious things that are "in his way"? Jim texts some writing on the subconscious mind he found online and Mark reads them…in the opposite order than he was meant to:) The writing/articles focus on both the subconscious mind and some words by Freud The articles really relate to the guys discussion and then Jim brings back in the application of some of these principles to his 14 year old guest…very cool Mark talks about our obligation to model and mentor to teach people how manage their emotions and awareness Jim doesn't think older people will be convinced to change their mind and Mark agrees…except for his dad:) You have to listen well and you have to pay attention Both guys agree not to look to others for happiness Jim tells his wonderful mentorship stories with the football teams of his alma mater. He's done it for 15 years and accomplished a ton over the years. Great stories!! Mark shares his stories working with the homeless kids Mark speaks directly to middle aged men and their choices about controlling their happiness Jim talks about one particular coach and how we all have our story Jim thinks that without sports he'd be in jail Mark shares a Denzel Washington story Jim says it doesn't have to be a father that mentors, just a good man who wants to
