Can You Do All Things Through Jesus?
from Theology Proper on SermonAudio Hosted by Mitchell Persaud
Beloved in the Lord Jesus: You have probably seen the picture of a Charismatic Christian lady holding a jar of pickles and struggling to open it and she says, "I can do all things, through Christ, who strengthens me." She is praying for strength to open the sealed pickle jar. After all, Christians are called to pray for help to do hard things, aren't they? This verse has often been used in similar situations. But that is a bad application of this verse. This bad application flowed from bad theology and bad theology always leads to bad practice. So we have to get the right theology from this verse, so we can get to better practice in life. Let God speak to you concerning the proper meaning and application of this passage. Our headings are: 1. What does this verse mean? 2. What does this verse not mean? Our goals are: That you will desire and depend on your Savior, the Lord Jesus, to strengthen you, so you can fulfill all your God-given duties in your home, church, and nation.
