Canada announces trade action against Russia, immigration streams for Ukrainians – March 3, 2022

from Depictions Media · host Michael Clogs

On Parliament Hill, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland is joined by ministers Anita Anand (national defence) and Sean Fraser (immigration, refugees and citizenship) to provide an update on Canada’s response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The federal government is revoking the ‘most-favoured nation’ trade status for Russia and Belarus, subjecting them to a 35 per cent tariff on exports to Canada. For Ukrainians fleeing the war, the government is opening one new immigration stream for those coming to Canada temporarily, and another for those staying on a permanent basis. Canada is also providing Ukraine with an additional supply of lethal aid consisting of rocket launchers and hand grenades, as well as $1 million to fund the purchase of modern, high-resolution satellite imagery.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/depictions-media--4208927/support.
