Canada Federal Governemnt Promises 40 Million to the Artic Gateway Railway

In a virtual news conference from Winnipeg, Jim Carr, the federal government’s special representative for the prairies, announces the government is providing up to $40 million to the Arctic Gateway Group to enable maintenance, repairs, and development of the railway system in northern Manitoba. He is joined by federal ministers Daniel Vandal (northern affairs) and Omar Alghabra (transport), as well as Onekanew (Chief) Christian Sinclair, co-chairman of the Arctic Gateway Group; Chuck Davidson, president and CEO of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce; and Michael Spence, mayor of Churchill.
