Cancer before 40: Stop living a deferred life

from The Mad Chatter · host Cassandra Hui

In this episode, I speak with my sister Cindy who alongside our eldest sister Stephanie were diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in 2017. Thankfully to a genetic test, doctors were able to catch the cancer early but both sisters underwent surgery to remove their breasts and ovaries and had both went through chemotherapy treatments. Cindy by coincidence was also the same age that our mother had been when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer and we were just children. We chat about her views on most people living a “deferred life of maybes, one day and some time”, on what she remembers from our mother’s cancer diagnosis and finally on the value of self-care. Here is her story.
