Cancer patients suffer as Charlotte Maxeke hospital runs out of chemotherapy drugs

SAfm — A 51-year-old cancer patient has described to SABC News how her life was compromised resulting in her collapsing at her home after the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Johannesburg failed to provide her with Chemotherapy medication. The woman who is from Kagiso, west of Johannesburg has breast cancer. She says she and a number of other cancer patients were made to wait the entire day at the hospital last Thursday only to be sent home with pain killers because the hospital had run out of chemotherapy drugs. This comes as South Africa mark Breast Cancer Awareness month. Wisani Makhubele spoke to the patient who wishes to remain anonymous.
