Led by Bali with a magical aerial vehicle built by Maya, the asuras used illusions to overwhelm the devas, until Lord Vishnu appeared with eight arms and destroyed key demons including Kalanemi, Mali, and Sumali. Indra ultimately defeated Namuchi using foam—neither wet nor dry—to circumvent his boon.
