Cape Breton Flood Recovery Progress | Calgary News

Cape Breton’s recovery is gaining momentum after weekend flooding stranded residents and damaged over 120 roads, but one major washout remains unresolved. Hundreds of workers are restoring the island’s road network as schools in three counties stay closed under emergency orders. The storm dumped over 200mm of rain in two days, leading to one tragic death — a 46-year-old woman whose vehicle was found near a flooded bridge. Two bridges and 200 culverts are also destroyed, with repairs underway. Officials urge caution as full recovery continues.
