Ryan's pirate ambitions: assemble the most malodorous crew in the Caribbean, pursue a romantic subplot with a woman whose name is a health warning, and build a parrot-based profanity empire. The AI has been coaxed into territory it clearly didn't want to enter, and the bleep machine is earning its keep. The crew's vocabulary would make a sailor blush, which, given they are sailors, is saying something. Port Royal in the 17th century was known as "the wickedest city on Earth" — a pirate haven where buccaneers like Henry Morgan spent their plunder on rum, gambling, and general debauchery. The real Golden Age of Piracy ran from roughly 1650 to 1730, and the Caribbean was its epicentre. Pirates were, by all contemporary accounts, exceptionally creative with their profanity. Ryan's attempt to bring this historical authenticity to the AI is admirable, if absolutely not safe for work.
