from ABC News Top Stories · host ABC Australia
A van has slammed into a crowd of people at a Pride celebration in the German capital Berlin - killing at least one person and injuring 15 others. Authorities say many of the victims have life threatening injuries. Police say a vehicle ploughed into a group of people at Tiergarten park - and a massive manhunt is underway for those responsible. German officials say it's too early to know anything about possible motivations - or the identity of the perpetrator or perpetrators. The French military is helping firefighters tackle a massive fire near Bordeaux that has forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people. A massive military transport aircraft is being used to drop fire retardant on the blaze which has left two firefighters dead. Meanwhile, officials in Spain say they're hoping to use a brief respite in the weather to get on top of a massive blaze near the capital Madrid. At least 88-thousand people have been forced from their homes as the fire burns out of control. The Prime Minister says he'll speak to U-S President Donald Trump about his country's increased tariffs on Australian goods. A new 12.5 per cent tariff has been placed on Australian exports to the US, replacing an existing 10 per cent one. The Trump administration argues it's taking action against forced labour and slavery, but Anthony Albanese has pushed back.
