Her book is a primer for newcomers, an inspiration for advocates, and a guide to scaling successful strategies nationwide, emphasizing leadership, veterinary access, and community engagement.In 2019, Cara and Nancy Slattery co-founded the nonprofit Who Will Let the Dogs Out, which works to raise awareness and resources for shelter dogs and the unsung heroes who fight for them.
