Cardinals Add Pereira, Let Go of Velázquez | St. Louis Cardinals News

The Cardinals made a splashy move Saturday, signing 25-year-old outfielder Everson Pereira off waivers from the White Sox and sending Nelson Velázquez packing. Pereira, who’s already shown power with four homers and 11 RBIs in 27 games this season, brings versatility and energy to the roster—especially in center field. Manager Oliver Marmol is bullish on his potential, while Pereira himself is buzzing about the new team vibe. Though his career stats are modest (.172 avg, 6 HR, 29 RBI), he’s ready to give 100% for St. Louis. He even started Saturday’s game against the Rockies in left field—batting ninth—and is poised to make an immediate impact.
