Care Close to Home: Our Commitment

from Cancer Covered

This week, Dr. Brian Burnette, Dr. Ruth Warren, and Dr. Matthew Ryan join us to discuss our oncologists’ sacrifices to bring cancer care closer to home for our patients. We discuss the average costs and time investments associated with traveling to outreach clinics to provide cancer care to patients and what they do to plan and prepare for travel. We discuss the common mistakes they’ve made when traveling to outreach clinics, the amount of time they’ve spent away from their family and friends to treat our patients, and how they cope with spending so much time away from their loved ones. We also discuss why Green Bay Oncology decided to purchase a property near our outreach clinics and how our perspectives have changed since we began offering outreach clinic treatment. Dr. Brian Burnette is an Upper Michigan native who graduated at the top of his class at Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine. After graduating, he completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. Today, he serves as a Medical Oncologist and Hematologist at Green Bay Oncology, where he treats all types of cancers. When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Burnette enjoys spending time with his wife and children, playing basketball, fishing, sailing, and hunting. Dr. Ruth Warren attended Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Texas A&M Health Science Center College’s Scott & White Hospital. Following graduation, Dr. Warren completed her Medical Oncology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. She currently works as a Medical Oncologist at Green Bay Oncology, treating all types of cancers and blood disorders. She is passionate about oncological research and the continued promise that new treatment options offer to cancer patients. Before attending medical school, Dr. Matthew Ryan attended Iowa State University, where he earned a degree in aerospace engineering. After graduating, he went on to earn his medical degree at the University of Iowa and completed his oncology and hematology fellowships at the Mayo Clinic. Today, he serves as a Medical Oncologist and Hematologist at Green Bay Oncology, treating all types of cancers and blood disorders and participating in the National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program trials. When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Ryan can often be found reading or spending time with his wife, Jenna, and their two children. “Traveling the way we do – it’s a grind. There’s no doubt about it. But, that said, I would make this choice over and over and over again.”– Dr. Ruth Warren This week on Cancer Covered:The sacrifices our doctors make to provide treatment and support to our outreach clinic patientsAverage costs and time investments for our doctors to treat patients closer to their homesHow our doctors plan and prepare for traveling to our outreach clinicsCreating a routine to pass the time while driving to our outreach clinicsWhat it would take for our doctors to cancel their travel plans to our outreach clinicsMistakes they’ve made when traveling to outreach clinicsHow they cope with spending time away from family and loved onesWhy we purchased a property near our outreach clinic Join Our Free Monthly Support GroupNo one should carry the burden of cancer alone. Lynne's Podcast Lynne August MD Dr. A offers her interpretations and applications of Dr. Revici’s profound research at DrRevici.com and the Revici Journal. Dr. Revici was arguably fifty to one hundred years ahead of his time in his application of quantum physics to medical sciences. As a once-aspiring physicist, this alone propelled Dr. A to Dr. Revici. As a physician, she felt compelled, and in some palpable way responsible, to understand Dr. Revici’s ability to control pain and achieve remissions in terminal cancer patients with his non-toxic “guided chemotherapy”, even many cancers that conventional therapy failed to control. Most of the time his questions and solutions were as unprecedented as they were effective. While Dr. Revici was primarily focused on cancer, Dr. A’s research and therapeutics to prevent and treat all chronic and degenerative disease can transform 21st century medicine.
