In 2002, he joined the Suffolk County, NY, Sheriff’s Office, serving in various bureaus, including Detention, Headquarters, Enforcement, and Domestic Violence. As a certified instructor, he trained recruits in breath analysis, DWI detection, field sobriety, impaired driving enforcement, and radar-lidar. He also served as a Drug Recognition Expert. From 2013, Becker was President of the Deputy Sheriffs Police Benevolent Association, negotiating contracts and lobbying for legislation.
