Caring For an Aging Population
from Viewpoints Radio · host Ebony McMorris | AURN, Evan Rook, Gary Price, Marty Peterson
More than 54 million Americans ages 65 or older are living in the U.S. today. This accounts for almost 17 percent of the total population. This number is only set to rise over the next two decades as millions more baby boomers transition into this next phase of life. As this population further ages, many will require care. So often we talk about the healthcare system and the patients themselves, but what about the caregivers who provide these services? In many cases, this role falls on family members shoulders, and for this group, it can be all too easy to quickly lose sight of personal health, wellness and relationships. We discuss the ups and downs of caregiving in a world that can feel isolating and hard to navigate.
