The Divine Parents of Type 1 Star Mr Saket and Mrs Smita Sharma, parents of Navya, a 14-year-old teenage girl living with type 1 diabetes, share their experiences as parents of a type 1 star.

How overwhelming it is to find out about your child's diagnosis and how difficult it can be to accept the condition in the first place. Mrs Smita, who herself comes from a healthcare background, found it overwhelming to find out her daughter's diagnosis, knowing that it is now a lifelong condition. Both parents found it easy to accept their daughter's condition when they were told by Navya, who has accepted type 1 diabetes as part of her life. Mrs Smita has gone through the real time challenges that every parent experiences, the challenge of dealing with a teenager. Navya as a child and now as a teenager are many different personalities, but her parents have been there for her through thick and thin.
