Carl Panzram: The Killer Who Hated Everyone
from Hitched 2 Homicide · host Kris Calvert and Rob Pottorf
Carl Panzram was one of the most violent and disturbing criminals in American history—a drifter, burglar, arsonist, rapist, and confessed serial killer who claimed responsibility for murders across the United States and beyond. Born in Minnesota in 1891, Panzram spent much of his life in reform schools, prisons, and on the run. Years of brutality hardened him into a man consumed by rage, and he later described a staggering trail of violence, including assaults, robberies, arson, and numerous killings. His crimes stretched across decades, but what made Panzram especially chilling was the complete lack of remorse he expressed for the people he hurt. While imprisoned, Panzram formed an unusual relationship with prison guard Henry Lesser, who encouraged him to write down the story of his life. The result was a raw and horrifying confession that offered a rare glimpse into the mind of a man who seemed to embrace violence as both identity and purpose. In 1930, Carl Panzram was executed by hanging at Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary. This is the true crime story of Carl Panzram—a serial killer, career criminal, and self-described enemy of humanity whose name remains synonymous with rage, brutality, and murder.
