In the dead of night as people sleep, that is when the spirits creep. As the bell tolls three dark things take power, we like to call it the supernatural hour. Hey, welcome to the Supernatural Hour Podcast. I am your host, Raven.
I am Chad. This is Emmet. This is Drake. So it feels like it's been a long time since we've recorded, even though we record roughly every two weeks, but October for me was so incredibly insane.
Is that busy time of year? Oh my gosh. Between tons of ghost hunting, which was so much fun. Football, which has the potential to be fun if your team is any good, which mine is not this year.
If your team is doing well. Even if your team is doing mediocre, it's okay, but my team is sucked right now. It's funny because we all have more than one team, but when they all do crappy, it's like a major bummer. Well, let me rephrase that.
My team is now the use. They're actually doing very well, all things considered. They've got like a million injuries. Well, you're in a lemna, so that's expected.
Exactly. The team for which I have seasoned tickets to and spend money to go and watch suck. And have arguably just as good or a better history. You know, my alumni doesn't have a football team.
Who's your alumni? You VU. They should get this. I thought they had a team.
No, they had one. Oh, okay. They have a volleyball and basketball team and not football. They used to have a private college in Salt Lake in the neighborhood I grew up with Westminster College and they used to have a football team.
This time you go private college, the Westminster Parsons. Do any of you remember them? I do. I do.
I gotcha. I knew you would. I knew you would. I knew you would.
There's so much going on it. Just anyway, feels like it's been a long time, but everyone listening is like, nah, Raven, you're just up and night. Okay. I have good news.
What's that? We sold the house. Nice. This had been listed for four hours.
Four hours. Okay. Typical listings in this area are listed for six to eight weeks. We had an offer.
They just came. They booked a showing immediately and came through and we had an offer like half a day later. 30,000 above asking price if we would cancel the open house. So I told my real estate agent sold.
Oh, yeah. That's amazing. That's just like, what? Are you kidding me?
What? Yeah. You might not get that offer again. So take it.
I know. I jump on it. Anyway, we're in a normal time. All right.
For the business business brought to you by Castle Photo Art. Okay. We're done with the business. I'll just really love it.
Listen, I have a shout out tonight for one of our Patreons and members in Colorado. Hi, Trish. Thank you for your support. Thank you for your listenership.
We love you. Thanks, Trish. And for all of our Patreons, as I was kind of putting together and getting prepared for this podcast and then when I make the agenda, I kind of put on there the teaser for what we're going to do next. So everyone can kind of have some time to prepare for that one.
I realized that the next podcast is the last one in our fall lineup. I have to start putting together our winter lineup and our winter swag for a Patreon. So if you want to, if you're listening and you're not a Patreon and you want to get some fun little purple envelope gifts in the mail, if you want to get a newsletter with kind of a teaser of what we're doing the whole quarter for podcasts, you know where to go? Go out to our Patreon page and become a patron.
So Castle does Photo Art. So go to Castle for your Photo Art needs. Really, we don't have any business. We'll start kicking up paranormal investigations for the public in January.
We've got some ideas of what we're going to be doing there, but there's nothing. It's just a shame. We have our own lives for like six weeks, right? No, no, no.
It's like our most family holidays. No, we just want everyone to be able to enjoy the other time with their family and friends. And we realize that things get busy with Christmas parties and Thanksgiving travel and other demons and spirits and all that. Everyone wants to go to Spester's education where we're free.
Wisps does still operate during that time. If there's home and Christmas-wise, we will be able to come out and... and do those kinds of things. But from the events, paranormal, kind of the commercial side of it, we're on a little bit of a hiatus.
If you need us, we'll be there, but no public event. That is a great segue into our next little section. So we did have a residential. It's kind of a funny residential.
When we did our library presentation, one of the ladies came up to us and said, Hey, we would really like you to come out and check out our house. And so we made an appointment. Anyway, there's a little bit of miscommunication. And when we got there, they had to reschedule.
And so most of the investigators that were there were pretty local. And it wouldn't have been a big deal to just say, you know, sorry guys, sometimes this happens. And we have to reschedule. But one of our investigators had come to Utah County from Ogden.
And if you're not familiar with eutagography, that's about a little over an hour. About an hour and a half, 90 miles. Yeah. And I thought, I can't have Sylvia come all the way down here and say, sorry, bye.
And so I thought, I thought we're really close to the American Fork Library. There's some VUP cabins down there. We can use the E-Meaning. We can use the Eutag pioneers.
Okay. And, you know, we can go down there and chat down there, you know, because I didn't want to have a waste of drive. But one of our investigators said, Hey, why don't we come investigate my house? And we always tell people don't investigate your own homes unless you know how to do it properly because you can actually invite stuff in.
But he'd actually had something follow him from P.H. And so we went and investigated that. We also had a new investigator join our team. And so we kind of wanted to test him out and see if he would work with our group.
And he does. He's fantastic. So they have another. So that was a very interesting investigation.
It wasn't the same one that followed him again from his name, was it? Yes. It was the same one? Oh, no, no, no, not that one.
It's a different one. It's the type three. The one that gave him his name, I think was a type one or a type two. And that name is whiskey.
So it was very interesting. We had some laser grids lit up to see if we could see this. It was actually type three. To see if we could see this type three walk through it.
And the laser grid just started turning off and on and off and on. That's weird. And so we thought it was coming off and on kind of regularly. And so we thought, oh, maybe it's a malfunction.
I think they put new batteries in it. And they did something to it because I was kind of off doing some other things. But they started counting how long this laser beam would stay on before it would turn off. And it was very regularly three seconds.
That's interesting. So negative spirits will use the number three to mock the Trinity. When you get scratched, you get scratched in three. They'll lock in threes.
And so we're like, hmm, that's interesting. What else happened while we were there? So this is actually a spirit that he invited to leave. And it hasn't really been in his house.
But when we went, it was like, oh, so it came back. There's another female that followed him from P.O.G. And she hates me. This was probably the most interesting thing that happened.
She hates you. What are females always following him? That's not fair. I know.
And why do they always hate Raven? I know. Well, so they had the ghost tube that spits out. They had the ghost tube going.
And they would say things like, do you like Raven? And the ghost tube would say, it's evil. And then like, well, why don't you like Raven? She's the devil.
And I'm like, thanks a lot, folks. I know. I smell jealousy. I don't know.
But she doesn't like me. She called me evil. She called me the devil. She called me something else.
But she didn't like me at all. But nothing personal. No, we did find the little portal in the closet. The spirit.
Those are amazing. I just discovered my first little portal last year, thanks to you. And folks, portals can be like the size of your little finger chip. It's amazing.
This is a negative portal. It was in the closet. You walk in the closet and it's like, oh, it's 10 degrees colder in here. And you're thinking, well, it's a closet.
There's probably not a vent in here. But as soon as we close the portal, within five minutes, it was the same temperature as the bedroom. Room temperature in him. Wow.
You cut off the energy supply. Yep. The type three actually went through the portal before we closed it. So he was gone.
But before he left, he turned the cat ball on a couple of times. It was a good investigation. I'm really liking the cat ball. For such, it's about time he got a piece of inexpensive technology that has such a good success rate.
And I'm sad that they just keep getting more and more expensive. They're like the cheapest thing ever until they got popular with ghost hunters and they're getting more expensive. I got like a two dozen of them from Amazon and the price worked out to like, you know, a dollar five each. Nice.
So the bigger the quantity you get, you know, the cheaper they are per unit. So she doesn't cat balls will last you the rest of your life and your children's lives. So the home that we were supposed to go to that head to council were actually going to go to tomorrow. So at our next investigation, you should be able to hear about this.
Tomorrow's this is recorded. Yes. Tomorrow's this is recorded. So you'll have to wait until the next podcast to hear about it.
On that note, I don't want to give out any details whatsoever yet on this next investigation we went on. It was kind of a tester investigation to a possible future public venue. And the only information I'm going to give is that we contacted one of the former residents of this area and I had the best flashlight conversation with her that I have had in literally a decade. I have had early early on one of our very first residential investigations was a house just a couple blocks away from my parents and there's a spirit there named Annie and we literally talked to her for probably an hour.
This was pacing. Of course. Yeah, through the flashlights and we would say turn on the green one and it would turn off the green one and turn on the red one and she would do everything you asked her to do. And I've had flashlights turn off and on.
I've had, you know, turn on the red one, turn on the green one. Oh yeah, the flashlight thing was what really first got my attention and paranormal because it was just, it was on command. You know, you couldn't refute it. Right.
So if you're unaware of what the flashlights are, you get mag flashlights, the ones that you just turn, you know, you just switch the end for it to come on. Not the LED ones either. Right. And the reason I have two is I have a red lens and one and a green lens and the other.
And that way you can ask yes, no questions through it. You know, you can have green be good, bad be no, green be yes, red be no. When I've had other than talking to Annie about a decade ago, I've had, you know, a few and it's been, you know, it's like turn on the red one anyway for a few seconds and the red one might dimly come on or it might not come on and you say, well, maybe the red one's hard to get to turn on turn on the green one and the green one would come on. I mean, I've gotten some good stuff, but I've never gotten any great stuff.
But the gal that we talked about this venue, it was immediate. Can you turn on the red one? Boom. Can you turn on the green one?
Boom. Awesome. Can you turn the green one off? Boom.
Can you turn both of them on at the same time? Boom. I mean, just as fast as you would. That's pretty decisive.
That's, you know, a lot of energy at the same time. Hard to refute that. Yeah. And she was a very energetic person in life and in death.
Yeah. So it just, it fit her personality and it was, you know, she would do things on command as quickly as we asked her to do them. And we would, I would go back and ask questions again, you know, just to double check and we would get the same answers. It was awesome.
We still have to meet with the owners of this venue and see if we can work some things out, but hopefully we can get in there. So, okay. Are you ready for the main topic? Let's see.
We've covered business check, residential check, residential undisclosed check. I think it's the main topic is the next one on the list. When I'm checking out for podcast topics, I just kind of peruse the internet, you know, typing keywords, paranormal and ghosts and, you know, just scan Google for, or, and duck go because you never know if they're going to have some different stuff and just kind of scan for names. And so I wrote down Carl Tansler because there was a few keywords after him.
And when I really got into actually researching, this is one creepy dude. Really? Do you think? Oh my gosh.
Perfect. No, I haven't. Jake, did you? You're talking about the guy who had the patient dipped in wax and literally slept with it and stuff?
Yeah. Do you heard of her book? Of either of them before? Slightly.
I had not. I'm watching some YouTube videos and I'm reading stuff. I'm like, this is some creepy crap. So, let's get into it.
His name is George Carl Tansler. And he just kind of went by Carl Tansler, except, except then he claimed to be a count. He would call himself count Von Castle. And he claimed to be related to the count as Von Castle.
And he claimed that her ghost visited him his whole life. And so that's why he claimed that he was a count because apparently a count just told him that he was that he was. So I had count as. Yeah, she did.
It's his ghost. He was actually a radiologist from Germany and he lived in Key West Florida. He was born in 1877 as best as anybody can tell. He died in 1952.
So he lived to be 76-ish. He worked in a hospital called the Marine Hospital. Marine Hospital Service in Key West Florida. I had to read that a couple times because you think it would be the Marine Service Hospital.
But it was the Marine Hospital Service. So he was not a doctor. Let's just put that out there. Although he claimed to be.
He claimed to be. He claimed to be a submarine captain and he claimed to have nine degrees. And a count. And a count.
So I'm thinking if you're trying to impress somebody with the amount of degrees you have, I would kind of maybe three because nine seems a little upset. But I'm not saying people out there don't actually have nine degrees. But he'd have a personal friend with five degrees, but not nine. Not seven.
There could be someone listening to this one. I know someone's got ten. That's fantastic. If you actually have ten degrees, I might have to you because I'm about to jump off a cliff just trying to get one.
But if you're trying to impress somebody with your fake degrees, I would just kind of maybe keep it at three because three is pretty impressive. Anyway, nine, nine degrees, folks. There was this Cuban family that came in. They had a daughter that they'd actually kind of been plagued with tuberculosis and a lot of their family members had died.
And so this family was just really struggling. And the family finally has to bring in their 21-year-old daughter. Her name was Maria Elena Milagro De Hoyos. She had actually been married.
She got married when she was 16. She had a miscarriage and her husband left her because of this miscarriage. They never got divorced. So keep in mind throughout this whole thing that she's still legally married.
And on top of that, so is Carl. Okay. He and his wife and their two children moved from Germany to Florida. So both of the people in the story are legally married, separated but legally married.
But he moved them in Florida and then he moved the way down to Key West without them. Yes. So as I say, they're both legally married, although basically single because their spouses are in their lives. Can you live the rest of his life in Florida and pass away there too?
Yes. So you're jumping the gun there, are you? Yeah. We got to wait for the second.
So this time, the time of this story where the story begins, he's 37 years older than Elena. She's 21 and he is 58 at the time of the story. So he had had this vision at one point in his life that he was going to marry and find the love of his life, his absolute soulmate. And she was going to be this dark-haired beauty.
So in the walk with Maria, well, Elena's what they call her, she's 21 years old. She's got tuberculosis. She's gorgeous. I mean, if you look at pictures of her on the internet, she's very pretty.
And he sees her and it is love at first sight. She's like, this is the person that I have seen in my visions and I am in love. So he's trying to make a better. Is that what was with you when you saw me?
No. I had no visions. That's okay. I'm a huge disappointment to my wife.
What do you do? You try and... All right. That's not part of the story.
I had no visions of silver-haired men, okay? They're better in for an exam. And he's doing his medical focus focus because he does not have a medical degree, folks. He's a radiologist.
And radiologists are like, hey, we're medical. We're medical, but I mean, he's not a doctor. And that is in its infancy, too, at the time. And so that reminds me, Doc and Velma are not able to be here again.
We have not fired them. They're still part of us. I wish Doc were here to... He's got one of those jobs with no life, so we're happy when he can make it.
So radiologists know stuff. I don't want to take away from their medical knowledge. And I do think at this point, many of them are doctors. Yes.
I mean, but he wasn't. But he was not a licensed medical physician. But he's treating her anyway. And he is bringing her gifts.
He is expressing his love. And she's not reciprocating. But she is coming back for treatments because she would like to live. Yeah, but he's her doctor, so she's going back.
Well, she got really sick. And despite his best non-licensed physician efforts, she passes away from tuberculosis. The family is not shocked or... I mean, they're sad, but they've already lost.
Their family member. Other family members. So this isn't like, oh, we've never seen her hurt at this before. I mean, they're very sad that they've lost their family member.
I mean, here's another one that's lost. And she actually died in her parents' home on October 25, 1931. So Carl, because he's just asauded with this woman, and the family is distraught. And they've had to bury so many people, they're just kind of short on money.
And he says, you know what, I'm going to pay for this funeral. And they're thinking, what? A kind doctor. That is amazing.
And so they let him pay for the funeral. What they didn't know is he'd already commissioned or had commissioned this huge above-ground crypt. There's pictures of it on the internet. You can go see it.
It's got her name on it really big and huge. I mean, for an above-ground crypt, I think it's quite considering the times. It's kind of pretty. He was the only one that had a key to the script.
Yeah. This is an island that you don't really bury people in, because it's all groundwater. Very low-line. So kind of like New Orleans with the crypts and the things that they do there.
But this was more than like the New Orleans crypt. This was a little house. This is like a little house. A little house crypt.
This is like a little word of the gondola mini houses. Small houses. It was a little big enough that you could go in. So he paid for this.
He commissioned it. And he would go visit it every night. I guess what else? He put telephone and electricity in there.
Oh yeah. And he would sing to her. He would go in and talk to her and he'd sing songs to her. He'd sing songs to her in Spanish.
Do you know why he put the telephone in? No. He'd sing to the telephone on the inside. And because she started singing so bad that he couldn't go in at times.
So he would phone it. He'd phone it in. Yeah. So she's decomposing.
And she... This is Key West. It's hot. And you made...
She's decomposing. Yes. So he did this for three years, people. This wasn't just a few days.
Three years he would go and visit her every day. And people kind of thought it was really weird. So after three years, she just like this green fuzzy pile or... Oh, we're getting there.
Okay. Okay. We will address this. It's three years.
A human body. Somebody's going to hold my hand. This is scary. A human body decomposing in a hot humidity for three years.
Just keep that in mind. Okay. And this was also before... Or as you can see, I'm embalming as well.
Yes. So he decides... Oh, well. He says that she told him to do this.
Apparently her ghost came back and told him to do this. There are ghosts. There's at least two ghostly aspects to this. Okay.
The Countess and then Elena. And if you're listening to this, there was not a type three that just growled. That would have been my stomach. So do not tell me there's an EVP at this point of the pocket.
But it's not out of the question either, really, because we've all heard of spirits who are concerned with the disposition of their remains. Right. Right. So this one's not unheard of.
But apparently he says that Elena came to him and told him to remove her body from the crypt and take it to his house. So in 1933, he takes her body to his house in the wagon. Did he have to shovel it in there? Or what?
I don't even want to know. Okay. Yeah, let's not go there. Fair enough.
So this is what he had to do. Obviously she's decomposing. She's probably not smelling the greatest because he had a telephone so that he didn't have to smell her, right? So he gets her home.
He ties her bones together with piano wire and hangers so that her bones don't fall apart. You know, he's trying to keep the skeleton together. Her eyes are gone. And so he puts in glass eyes.
Her skin is decomposing. And so he would get silk cloth that he soaked in wax and plaster of Paris and put over, you know, anytime some skin started to go bad, he'd do this. Her mother, for some reason, had a whole bunch of hair. And so he asked for this hair and she gave it to him.
And he made a wig out of this hair. So she has a wig of her own hair. Since her innards, he removed decomposing innards and he stuffed her to keep her, you know, kind of like rags and stuff. Like, you know, so she kept a human shape.
And there's a little bit of, depending on what you read, this is true or not true. But several places say that he inserted a vaginal tube so that he could consummate the relationship. Oh my God. Oh, geez.
Not that bad. You should see him in this face. And now it is disgusting. Oh, I can't unhear this.
And he dressed her nice clothing. He would put stockings on her and gloves on her and he would continue to buy her gifts. And this is when people in the town were starting to think, you know, he's, we've never seen him with a woman and he's buying perfume because he had to put perfume on her to kind of stave off the smell because she's still smelly. They say that when they actually found her, jump on ahead, just a smidge of an alchemy back, they actually found her in a wedding dress.
But he put her, she just lived on the bed. Lived? Well, she existed. Her body was on the bed.
And he would sleep with this woman every night. She was like the original corpse bread. She would sleep with her every night. Apparently he put up a little privacy.
Curtin? Kind of like what we're got here. Well, this is just a sound down putting Curtin. But we watched, I don't know if you ever watched Ask Morticians.
She's fantastic. She was so funny. What she said was, you know, he put up a privacy screen for her and he's like, you know, when you take out your beloveds decomposing entrails, is there really anything left to hide? It was so funny when she said that.
In order to stall decomposition, he would put disinfectants on her. He would put different preserving agents. He created a super fun site in the bed. Yeah.
So it got to the point where she didn't really, I mean, she looked human. Did you say, did you say super fund or super fund? Yes, super fund. Isn't that toxic waste site requiring?
No, no, not a super. Yeah, fire. Yeah, really fire and lots of it. So the people in the town, because it's Key West, but you know, the 1930s, that's not very big.
Maybe written towards the 40s. And the people are starting to notice, like I said before, that he's buying, you know, all these things. If you've ever seen the movie Key Largo, it was pretty much like that at the same time. Yeah.
So, you know, he's buying all these things for women and people are noticing. Also, they say that a local boy saw him dancing in the window holding her. So her sister was just so sad and so distraught. She started limiting her visits to this above ground crypt once a year.
Carl lived with this woman. Corpse, right? The corpse of Corleina for seven years before the sister noticed. And she actually, the reason she noticed is she goes to the crypt and the crypt just looked on camped and she's like, well, that happens.
But you know, Dr. Tanseler said that he would take care of it for me. So she goes knocking on his door to see what's up and why she's not taking care of her sister's crypt, like he said he would. And she walks in and she sees this body on the bed and she kind of freaks out.
She goes and gets police. The police take this body. They do an autopsy and short enough. It's a human body.
It's a human body. So they take him in and they charged him with, I wrote this down, they charged him with Wonton and maliciously destroying a grave and removal of a body without authorization. But they had to drop the charges because the statute of limitations had passed. So he's free.
So he's free and they found him mentally competent. Yeah, the psychiatrist. And I'm thinking they said he wasn't insane. What psychiatrist on the planet is going to say that someone is mentally sane when they're living with a corpse and bringing it presents and keeping it from stinking by putting perfume on it and dancing with it.
That is not mentally competent. I'm sorry. No, maybe Freud would have said he would, but that's Freud. I don't know.
To me, there's something wrong there. Yeah, that's a he was messed up. So a lot of people that were on his side on this whole thing too though, because he was just this loving person that did all these things for the women of his dreams and very supportive. Very supportive of him.
Yeah, but once you're dead, you're dead. It's time to move on. So things get weirder in case you wondered. Really?
How? Is that possible? Are there aliens or something? Right.
So they take the body away from him. He actually asked for it back and shockingly they said no. But this is what I don't understand. So did you tell them what they're going to do when they took the body away from him?
That's where I'm going. That's where I'm going. This poor woman who's been dead for like almost a decade at this point. And she's been just totally desecrated by this man.
And has got like a plaster and wax face and I mean there's hardly any original parts to her left. They put her on public display. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, and she was viewed by almost 7,000 people. Oh, like why would you do that at this point?
Just let her rest in peace. Well, you struggled on this one, didn't you? Yeah, this one's this one was creepy. So I can't help but wonder I think her ghost had to have been there.
It would have been fascinating to be a ghost investigator this time because I bet you she was there and I bet you she was pissed. But it has to be. I would have been pissed. I would have been take that tube and don't bring that thing next to me.
Oh, she's. I don't I don't I don't want that human touching my face with silk stuff. I do not want presents. I do not want my bones wired together.
Just put me back. Oh, that reminds me of a song that I think I make it all the time. He must have been so concerned with his own grief that he was incapable of feeling anything from beyond, you know, I think that's that's amazing. You've heard the song from monsters, Inc.
Put that thing back where it came from or so he's on. Yeah, just let me back. It does get weirder, but there is some closure for Elena. After she was put on public display for who knows what reason they finally buried her in an unmarked grave and didn't let him know where and didn't.
Yeah, no one knows where she is, but the weirdness continues. Oh, no. Yes, he had a death mask made of her right after she died and he had this death mask and he had all of her belongings, which I'm using my air quotes because, you know, he brought them to her after death. So he was found out about 10 years later with an effigy that he made of her with the death mask.
Oh, geez. So some people say he was actually able to switch bodies and still have the real bodies. Some people say that's just rumor. I mean, urban legend, but he was found with at least an effigy that looked like her with her death mask and some say that he was found just behind an organ.
That some people said that he was found in the arms of his effigy of her, but yeah. So if that's not weird, I don't know. That is weird. That is weird.
Yeah, it's just no. I think if we had been able to investigate at that time, we would have gotten some real pissed off EDPs. Oh, yeah, for sure. For sure.
Yep. And I bet just the feeling in his home was just dark with whatever was up with him and if she was there, what her feelings were, I don't know. Just a despair alone. No, absolutely.
Wow. I just I just found this in 2007, the band, the Black Dahlia murder released a song entitled Death Mask Divine on their nocturnal album, which tells the story. Oh, really? Carl Tensler and Elena.
Yeah. Wow. I see here. One, two, three, there's like four or five songs released about this story.
This is amazing. Yeah, I've never heard of it before. I see television to 1999, 2010. The story is based on it.
It's a theater. Wow. Yeah. This was spread around in popular culture.
No, absolutely. Yeah, that's certainly weird enough, right? That Ask a Mortician YouTube about it is really good. Yeah.
And I wish I knew her name. But if you go to YouTube and just type in, Ask Mortician, I actually have her book. She's got a book. Caitlin Doty, something like that.
Yeah, she is really, really interesting. So if you want a good YouTube to watch, you should go listen to her because we really quite enjoy watching her. If you are creepy and more like we are. Yeah, it hurts us all.
You know, I say about death, about death and death experiences and... I just questions about bodies after they've passed and what they do with bodies and the mortu. It's very interesting. And natural burials and all sorts of things.
Yeah. I would like to investigate that mortuary in person. That old one looks... I think it's closed now.
Yes. So that one is right next door to a church which used to be my school. And when I was in that school in sixth and seventh grade, it was another school. The mortuary was actually a functioning mortuary.
It was white with black trim. It looked pretty. Now it's like a weird gray with gray trim. But we would go there and help for a field trip.
Oh boy. That's an interesting way to do health is... Yeah, let's go to a mortuary. Yeah, let's just try next door.
Just walk next door. So I kind of credit that to maybe some of why I'm so morbid. Hey 11 year olds, let's go to a mortuary. Anywho.
Did you see dead bodies? No. Okay. No.
If I was on that field trip, I would have a stick with me so I could poke a body with a stick. No, but they showed us everything. They showed us the embalming room and the embalming tools. They probably stopped doing it after the sixth sense came out and people were quoting the movie.
I'm way older than that though. Tell them about Molly. So my daughter is just like me and I don't know if I should be proud or horrified. But...
Oh come on. We know you'd be proud. So Chad had, you know, his dad passed and his dad was older obviously. And so there's, he had a lot of friends that passed kind of within a short period of time.
And then I had... This is back when Molly was about five or six. She was about five or six years old. And then I had a friend whose father passed away.
He would have been about that same exchange. So just the age she was, she wasn't in school yet. So we would go to these funerals and we'd just take her with us. For viewing, yeah.
Funeral, funeral, funeral, funeral. So at Chad's dad's funeral, it was in a mortuary. So there was the viewing. And then he just stayed there while we had the funeral just right there.
And she would just go stand and stare. She was just fascinated. And then we went to one where they had a viewing but it was close to Casket. So it was more just to go and talk to the family.
And she was just morally disappointed that you couldn't look at the dead guy. The dead guy. And then we went to my friend's father's funeral. And this was at an LDS church.
And so they had the funeral in the... In a separate room. In a separate room. And there was just a, you know, we went in.
We went into the viewing, you know, did what she did. You give you, you talk to the family. And then we went to go sit in the chapel to wait. The funeral started.
So we're sitting there. And then she looks at me and she's five years old. Four or five years old. And she's like, Mom, I'll be right back.
And I said, where are you going? Because we were like in a different state. And she's like, I kid you not. These were her exact words.
Exact quote. She had to go get another look. And she was very, you know, so I went in. So I kind of just followed her.
I thought I was going to let her go. And I was going to stand back a little bit. And she would see what she does. Creepy stalker.
See what she does. So I did it. And she went in and she just stood there. And she just looked.
So anyway, on that note, do you have a segment for us? Yes. I recently picked up this, it's a wristwatch EVP recorder. That sounds kind of cool.
It is. Go stop.com. You know, they do a lot of interesting gizmos for us. I was looking at that thing.
I wanted to get your opinion on it before I bought it. I've had a chance to use it. It's nice. It's got an analog.
It's a digital, but the graphics are an analog watch face, which is okay. But it will record up to 16 gigabytes depending on the recording format you use. And that is, you can program that yourself. You can program the speed, the sample rate.
So it's actually a pretty capable recorder. You have to use earbuds or headphones with. If you're going to use anything other than earbuds, you have to use an intermediate amplifier. You're wearing studio headphones with 50 millimeter drivers.
It will power those. You need an amp. You need an amp. So what's nice about it is, you're wearing it on my left wrist.
You still have to touch a button to get it recording. But you have both hands free. You don't have to be holding the EVP recorder. Or like I do sometimes, put it down on a table somewhere and forget about it.
Oh, yeah. And so it's kind of neat. I'm going to, the next time we actually have an investigation, I'm going to do it. If you have an investigation, I'm going to bring it and we'll see what happens.
I haven't charged it for about two weeks. And just looking at the battery now, I haven't used it since then, but the battery is still fully charged. Oh, nice. So I like that.
It just has a micro USB charging jack on the side. You guys can't see it. You guys can't. I do.
I might throw this up on Facebook. We'll see. It's kind of neat. You can't use an external microphone.
You have to use the onboard microphone. So the spirits are going to have to lean down and talk into your wrist. But it's kind of neat. So I just got it from the Ghostop website, Ghostop.com.
