Carlos Hernández’s Remarkable Return | Cleveland Guardians News

Carlos Hernández is back on the mound for the Cleveland Guardians less than eight months after a life-threatening car crash in Venezuela—where he broke his femur, sprained his ankle, and suffered a deep arm cut—all while texting behind the wheel. Now fully recovered with the help of his therapist and team staff, he’s using his story as a powerful warning against distracted driving. The Guardians’ manager prioritized his well-being above all else, reminding everyone that some things matter more than baseball. Hernández credits his growing faith for getting him through the grueling rehab—and he’s thrilled to return for September play, turning near-misses into triumphs.
