Born to a teenage mother, eventually becoming a teenage mother herself, drugs, dating drug dealers and a propensity for powerful men. Carmell was always chasing the next big thing in an effort to escape the mess and chaos that seemed followed her. After a chance encounter with a stranger who gave her a phone number and said, “when you’re ready to get clean give me a call.” She finally did and it changed the trajectory of her life. Recovery was a tough road for Carmell but what kept her coming back was the sense of peace she felt from those in the rooms. Although Carmell threw herself head first into recovery, she still found herself backed into a corner she thought she could handle.
