Carnivorist Chats Episode 51 "Healing Bipolar Disorder" with Robyn Dobbins

Robyn Dobbins has an amazing healing journey to share. From a young age, she began to notice she was becoming more negative towards herself, even contemplating suicide in high school. After the birth of her son she was diagnosed with postpartum depression, however her mental symptoms kept getting worse. After some research on her own, she decided to see a doctor and was then officially diagnosed with bipolar and oc disorder. She then spent her children's formative years "medicated and asleep" until age 40 when she had some regular blood work done and was suggested to go on a statin. Not wishing to go on any more medication, Robyn decided to take matters into her own hands and, with the help of her husband, found Vinnie Totorich's NSNG (no sugar no grains) diet and never looked back. She lost 50 pounds, began exercising and, with the help of her doctor, successfully came off her medications. Robyn and I connected briefly in person at Keto Con 2023, and it was an honor to have her on the podcast. We talked about her upbringing and the challenges she faced leading up to her diagnosis with bipolar disorder. We also talked about her healing journey, the profound effects diet can have on our mental health, and how she recently decided to start a podcast to help others share their own success stories.
