He worked as a guard at the Caroland Mansion and gave unauthorized tours, often targeting high school girls. On February 2nd, 1985, he lured two teenage girls to the mansion, forced them into the basement safe, and proceeded to beat, rape, and stab them. He then put them in his trunk and drove to a ravine, where he dumped them. One of the girls survived and identified Rayleigh.
