Case Files #135: Nancy Guthrie. In the early hours of February 1, 2026, a masked, gloved man stood at the front door of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie's home in the Catalina Foothills of Tucson, Arizona, and disconnected her doorbell camera. At 2:28 a.m., her pacemaker stopped communicating. By morning she was gone — her phone, wallet, car, and daily medication all left behind. The FBI recovered footage of the man at her door from the camera system's backend data and released it on February 10; he has never been identified. Ransom notes sent to media outlets demanded $4 million in Bitcoin by February 5, rising to $6 million by February 9; a second note claimed she had died, a claim officials have never endorsed. A California man, Derrick Callella, was convicted in federal court of sending the family hoax ransom demands — his crime was a hoax, not the abduction. Sheriff Chris Nanos has cleared the Guthrie family as suspects, in his words: "To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel." No one has been arrested or charged with taking Nancy Guthrie, and authorities have not said whether she is alive. The FBI offers up to $100,000 for information leading to her location and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved; her family offers up to $1,000,000 for information leading to her recovery; 88-CRIME offers up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest.
