Cast Away (with Danny Seoane)

from WE BOUGHT A MIC Hosted by WBAM Studios

We crash land somewhere in the South Pacific with our volleyball friend Danny Seoane to discuss the classic Tom Hanks film, CAST AWAY, directed by Robert Zemeckis, and released in December 2000. Hanks delivers one of his most iconic performances, earning him an Oscar nomination. We discuss the real-life challenges of production—from Hanks nearly dying on set to gaining and losing 50 pounds for the role—and explore the lasting impact of Wilson. Did Cast Away influence Survivor’s popularity? How did it impact FedEx's global brand recognition? Does it feature one of cinema's greatest plane crash scenes? Would anyone but Hanks could carry this movie—and would we want to see them try? NOTE: our main audio failed around the 12:45 mark for about 3 minutes, and then is restored.
