You ready? Yep. Welcome to Casual Wernard them. A place where you can be nerdy without being an expert.
Where you can be real without being woke. Now what do we mean by that? If you watch Game of Thrones and you don't know who made it, that's okay. This is the place for you.
If you are MCU fans who might not know everything about the comics I had a post from, this is the place for you. This is a judgement-free zone to discuss everything nerdy. I'm Chris Bacon. I'm Agent Daniel.
And welcome to Casual Wernard. What's up guys? How you guys doing? This is episode 9.
9. Yeah man. I'm a- excuse me right now I'm a little under the weather. Um, but uh- We're gonna- I'm gonna go into this episode and thank you guys for rocking with us so far.
Hope you guys have enjoyed the episode so far. Um, we only want more episodes left in our season. Yes. Um, so, you know, we're excited that you guys have to listen to all this and then you know it was a last episode.
So come back and listen to all of them over and over again as much as you want. Um, but- Anyone talk about the topic today? Let's go ahead and do it. Oh wait, no wait.
Didn't we want to, um, address, um, the Captain Marvel thing? Yeah we did. Okay, so this is gonna- okay, so we're gonna give you guys a little bit of extra special today. Um, because usually our episodes are very focused on one topic but we wanted to touch on this before we get into today's topic.
Uh, so I- we did the Captain Marvel episode a couple episodes back and seen the movie and you know, we enjoyed it with school. And I knew a little bit about the character and the name Captain Marvel. I did know that, um, there was a- a character, um, man- moniker member who, uh, and I'm not mistaken that was her friend that grew up with her, right, in the movie. Not the daughter.
I thought it was the daughter. And you look it up for me real quick, yes, right. So it's either the mother or the daughter in the movie. Um, I just wanted to double check to see what- which one she was because then it might give us the ideas for more sequels.
But, um, Monica Rambo as a named character in the Marvel universe, uh, was Captain Marvel at a point in time. Um, actually, after Marvel had the Captain Marvel name, Monica Rambo took the Captain Marvel name, um, directly after that for a short period of time. Um, and then I think that Marvell's children had it for a little bit. Um, one of his sons had it and then he passed it off and he became someone else.
And then, uh, his second son had it and then finally it was- it could have been passed back to Monica Rambo at that point. But it wanted getting- it wanted, uh, being given to Carol Danvers and she adopted the name Captain- What's her daughter? Monica Rambo, what's her daughter? So who's it on?
What's my name? The mom's name is, uh, Maria Rambo. Maria Rambo. Okay, good.
So, okay. So a couple of Easter eggs for Captain Marvel. Okay. So on Maria- Maria Rambo's ship that says Photon, which is the name that Monica Rambo had after Captain Marvel was given to Carol Danvers.
So like right now in the series, her name is Photon. Yeah. Um, she looks very different than she did back in her comic book days. Um, we asked the camera calls to the dope video explaining the history behind the naming and what happened and all the people that had it.
She was not the first person to have Captain Marvel, but obviously because Marbell was the first person to have Captain Marvel as a title superhero, he had his own issue where he was Captain Marvel, but she was the next person that had it immediately after that. And so the first female Captain Marvel- Captain Marvel was Monica Rambo. Right, a black woman. And, um, so for me, I was like at first, so two things could have happened.
One, if Monica was her friend like real with her, you could have just easily switched it to Carol Danvers and it'd probably have been almost the same movie because very generally for actor-rents, a lot of the experiences that we were having, like the things, you know, that didn't matter, they were both in the military and that's kind of what it started to do with their friendship. So you could have easily had them switched. But, um, I'm glad we looked it up. Yes, the daughter, meaning that in the future, there's always potentially a chance where her daughter can get powers and become Photon.
Um, but we would, I would like to see her be Captain Marvel or to some extent, whatever I mean, I'm just- I mean, you're planning in the future- I'm sure you should have just- Captain Marvel after Belosin's- Based on the research that we did, technically her Captain Marvel was the more popular one. Yeah. So I'm actually kind of curious as to why Marvel decided to go with Belosin's version. Um, which is kind of a damage version, which was- who wasn't as popular?
Well, so- Yeah, so, I only reason- and I said- we were talking about this off- I wonder why Marvel- I wonder why. And what I've been noticing, and like I said, I think I mentioned it in a Captain Marvel episode. I said that, um, Marvel has been doing a lot of shows for kids and a lot of animated things, where they have been pushing, carried with the Marvel's Captain Marvel as like a leader. Um, kind of- that's why she's gonna be kind of leader of me with not to kind of bring the kids who are growing up with Marvel.
Like, I've seen her around for a little bit. I know who she is, we don't know who she is primarily, but if you watch Marvel animated properties, all over the place. She's definitely been in almost every Marvel show you can think about. Yeah.
So, she hasn't been going in just like how did Iron Man, he's always been around, but she was gonna put him at- or her at the forefront of a movie. Um, but yeah, Monica Rambo was the first Captain Marvel, so maybe in the future sequence, she can become- now here's the thing. Here's the thing about naming, it's something that the person mentioned in the video. Um, we might- if you- we might shout out to- shout out to- I don't know.
But um, the- in the video was mentioned that it almost- I'm trying to remember exactly what they said. It was like, why do characters have to take the names of superheroes for themselves? Like, so Ms. Marvel is now a- I think it's a Samali girl, 16-17- old Samali girl.
Like, Jane Foster became Thor for a little bit of time, um, and Ruby Williams became Iron Heart, which was the female Iron Man, or her version of Iron Man. She's not gonna call it an Iron Man, obviously. But the comment she's in is so called Iron Man. So, it's like, do we even want to have characters share names?
You know, we understand a whole- we understand- from a superhero standpoint, like if you watch the anime at all that my hero academia, like, passing all names has thus holds some importance. Um, you do want to take some of his name, Carol Danvers. And my brother was close in- in their origin story. And that's kind of the thing, because she always got high powers from Marvel.
So um, and when it refers to New 52, that's what they- that's what they push forward to narrative. So of course, they're gonna make that the logical- okay, Marvel, Captain Marvel, please us, um, or Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers. So yeah, it does kind of- it's weird, but I would rather- if anything at this point, I'd rather see her come home superhero. Um, if they do make full-time character, I'd be really excited to see that.
Um, so hopefully, Otica'll be setting her up that- that actual- if they- if they age- or if they age her up for in-game, technically none of this stops her place in present day. So she can definitely be old enough now where she can be a superhero. So there's always time to tell, but I like it better. Or we can just prepare our selective outrage and stop going in on Marvel.
Both sides of the fence here. I don't even know what that means. It's a conspiracy. I think DC's doing it.
I mean, they- I got them all for a while. And that's kind of the thing. Um, they kept moving her name around because they didn't want to lose the same thing that Sony does with Spider-Man. Um, and fantastic for it.
Like, they have to keep doing stuff with the names so they don't lose it legally. So that's why they kept pushing it around. And they gave it to someone who they thought already had a strong history and someone I think can just keep the story going and rebrand her and keep them moving. Could Cara down what they started out to be an leader of the Avengers?
I think many made that decision and they was like, this is what we're gonna do. So that- that's- that's cool. That's cool. Take it what you will.
Um, but I wouldn't invite you guys to just look it up. Like look up, Catamaw, for the character and read the history about it. Um, it is interesting to know. Um, but sometimes do you like character sharing names?
Is there something that you care about? Um, do you like character sharing names? I don't really care. I just wanna- I just- I was just more so wondering why they did not go with the Black girl first.
It's interesting to say that this is probably a race thing. I know Marbles not racist. We don't know how far that goes. But we know Marbles not initially racist.
The recipe's very pro incorporating everybody. But I'm just curious. I just wanna know. What was the real reasoning behind why they chose to go with- You couldn't make care of it.
They couldn't pick someone up. Honestly, you couldn't expect anyone to be Captain Marbles at that point. But I guess- and Monica was fine for that because she wasn't doing all that at the point at the time. So they could have just kind of talked to her.
I said, yo, let's make you the Captain. But I don't know. I feel like Marbles at the time didn't wanna do it. That's probably what it is.
Nowadays, think about the last couple of years. Like, they even doing a lot of shit. They moved around. They made a Black teenage girl, smart enough to engineer Iron Man.
To have Jane Foster, who was originally just- So was girlfriend. Now I have cancer and B-door. Somali girls can miss Marbles. They have Squirrel Girl.
Now they have Marbles Rising. They have Odys. Young superhero's patriot. Falcon.
Falcon and Patriot is like the little Black Captain America. And not even who's not Patriot. Yeah. So it's like, they're bringing people up.
You're not seeing them if you're not watching with the kids that watch. I'm just trying to start beef. Oh, no. They're trying to top you.
Hashtag. I feel like Marbles put seat on with that. Like they applied that around and had a choice and they forgot about Monica. I'm still in the pot.
I've got about Monica at the time and they also could have been there because he wasn't even a half a lot going on. Somebody forgot about her for a time. You know, she was little there, but it's a little bit. And Carla Dhammas was already kind of in the fold and it's done with that.
Either way though, like, I feel like they could definitely give her more. And I had to think about comics and that's what I tell people at the time. We sometimes based our excitement off of the movies, but we have to understand that. All this stuff comes from comics and comic sales.
So if people aren't buying these trying comics or in fact, it's just driving whatever. That's why I'm confused. That's why I'm confused because if we based on this off of comic sales and what's going to get more make more money for Marvel, then they should have went Monica because technically her comic, according to the research that we did, her comic did better than all the other types of novels. And I've seen it even really cool to see some super cool black shakers be like, yo, like, you know, I'm just going to base off of the facts.
Like the facts of the matter was that she was the first one and she was the, she sold the most comics. The same attitude that you can have. If you put that on a black, I'm going to pick one of the different which is sucks. Like, think about this for a second.
Real Arson had to be like about how two things had to be about the person. And people were upset about that. She was like, I want to be in a university into Hollywood. And I'm like, really, I really wish you knew.
Now, I don't know if you did know, maybe you didn't know, but the hatred of the character, like, you know, maybe you did know. And you could have been like, oh, snap, you guys really had a choice there. The second thing is that she is very, when I watch her and I think it's only because I've been seeing a lot of negative things that kind of mess in my opinion of her, but she seems very like emboldened, like, you know, very like, you know, stand off or sometimes. I don't know, bad way, but just, you know, like, very much how you see her in a movie where she's like, very, very, you know, I should not like, you're not going to crack me, you know, saying you're not going to like break your arm with some careless words or whatever.
And that's cool. But I feel like if a black woman had that same demeanor, it would be seen if I had an attitude or like, being stubborn or something like that. And I didn't get it. So I'm just thinking about just seeing for seeing like, just certain instances, like, be a dickwist.
Not, not that it's fine. No, no, no, no, no. Marvel could have done, it could have had her be like black and then when she got turned through, you could have made her skin like a slightly different color. You know, like, you could have, because technically she's not even a hundred percent human.
We all get to about fictional characters. Listen, Marvel, we love you. I'm just really curious as to why you guys didn't go with that one first, but it's all good. No trippin' about it.
But we want you guys to know that audiences know that their first Captain Marvel was, indeed, a black woman. I mean, the first woman female Captain Marvel was a black woman. Yeah, just pondering all that information we have to give you all as you think about decisions. And when you look at comics, I go look it up because you never know Marvel does basically the same thing that we do.
So if we do boost the message, you know what you might want to make it a little ton of character. You never know, because you don't know what they're playing on doing. They try to do it in humans and then work out, so they have a turn on it. Oh, Lord.
And they have the X-Men that they have, because they was finally done with Disney. Let's go, Marvel! So, Disney! Let's see what's up.
Let's get this shit back in order. You know what I'm saying? Because it's been a little crazy. It's been a little crazy.
So, all I'm saying, that's all I'm saying. Anyway, to go into our topic of today, currently Fanning number one at the box office, is the movie Us. Universal? Shout out to Jordan Peele.
Big fan of him. Big fan. You want to get into it? Alright, so the reason why we chose to do Us.
One is because if you wanted to have the conversation, why don't we switch to because of minds? Because you've seen a lot of opinions. Everyone's seen the movie in the same weekend. We weren't playing about that.
And it's not us for showing up. Shout out to us for showing up. We might feel about these things. We need more of these things.
And that's the thing I want people to understand when we talk when we talk about this. Like Jordan Peele said, I probably won't cast it by Lee because I've seen that movie. And it's like, yeah, yeah, no matter what you might feel about the people in the movie. We've seen every single scenario with them and why people before.
So for him by just doing any kind of movie with black people in place of white people and switching roles, I feel like we need more of that. And it's not done as a black movie. It's not done as a token. It's like, oh, this is the heartland of the film for the summer.
It's like, no, I'm ever scaring a shit out of people. And it's just the black family instead. And scaring is such a suspense. I don't know.
Now here's the thing I want to talk about. Jordan Peele is a master of film in terms of what he pulls from. And the thing that I think a lot of people enjoyed about the movie is it has very classic and very classic and authentic suspenseful moments that you can pull some other movies like this little creepy thing. The movie is cringy.
It's more so than scary. It's cringy. There's moments where you kind of cringe a lot looking at little things. And that's kind of what the movie hinges on because even the theme song, not the theme song, but like the score.
I got five on it. It's incredible. And it's creepy. And I think that's...
I'll be honest with you. It wasn't... It was creepier in the trailer. Watching in the movie made me laugh.
I don't know why. Every time it came on, I just started laughing. I feel like they had a dance battle. Well, okay.
That's the thing about that. Because they only used it in weird moments where it was impactful on what was happening, where it would hit on beats and stuff like that. And I'm like, I understand that. And that's a very old, scary movie trope where the music would be on pace with the action.
So I understand that. He just wanted to play it up. And I don't see it on my own. It's a good movie.
I don't want to say that. I think it's something that I think is something that you're doing so much. I'm a Jordan Peele fan. Get Out was probably one of the best movies of the century.
I loved his work on their comedy show. And all the stuff that he's been doing lately, he's about to do Candyman, which I'm excited to do. He's an airy and twilight zone. Super excited for that too.
But with us. I watched the movie. Seen the movie. I wasn't scared.
It wasn't really a scary movie, being honest with you. The cinematography and the acting was phenomenal. I was watching this and I'm saying to myself that shot with the Peele talking to herself in the classroom from her face. I was like, wow, that shot is incredible.
My thing is when I watch a movie, at the end of the day, it's like a song to me. I know Jordan is going to make something that has a lot of layers to it. It's like a cake. A lot of layers to cake.
But is the cake good? Is the cake enjoyable? Like, actually a cake. No, no.
Like, actually a cake. Like, you know, like a lemon cake. You know what I'm saying? Like, sometimes I make lemon cake and put little hints of coconut in it.
You know what I'm saying? Like, little tiny little things. But like, is the cake itself good? That was my thing about us.
I personally feel like the concept of the plot of the movie was this really not that great. I was just like, all right, like, with some clones, government, it wasn't really like, oh, wow, this is like some groundbreaking new way of scaring people. It just didn't do it for me. It just didn't.
I'm sorry. And then for me, I'm a person that if I watch a movie and I like the movie, then I'm interested in wanting to know about all the little details that go into the movie and things I might have missed while watching the movie. It's hard for me to do that. It's hard for me to do that after.
Because that's what I had to do after. I had to go and look up what everything meant about this movie because I'm sitting here watching this and I'm like, none of this don't make no sense to me. There's a lot of holes, a lot of stuff you talk about. You said plot armor.
I was like, wait, no one died. Get the fuck out of here. I was like, no one in the family died. There was a lot of opportunities for niggas to die.
No one died. I was like, all right, like, you know, I'm all cool with, you know, all right, why family died. I'm fine with that. That's fine.
You know, like they literally showed up, killed them in two seconds done with the black family was like, all right, yeah, I get it. We want them to live and all but it's a movie and they could one could die. This one that I mean, the mother could have died. I don't know.
Some I could have died. You know what I'm saying? It would have been cool. This is a lot of moments for me that I was like, nah.
ASH all of the movies. I checked out the movie ride the part when spoiler alert. Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
I'm sorry for you. Right at the part where the sun was taken by the teddy. And that's like, almost over the end. Yeah.
Let's see. I checked out right there. That's when I that's when I was like, all right. Yeah, I'm done.
When the Sun when the Sun was taken. And the mother ran off to find him and the father the daughter did not follow him for the father, know, the father said father didn't said, Oh, don't watch your mom. She knows what she's doing. And that's how I had thought to myself.
in the hell would she know what she's doing in the situation. The only way she would know that if she'd been a situation before, which she hasn't. So in my sense of this would never happen, this is the fact that we talk about clones, right? Whatever.
This should always be a reality base to something. This is something I can relate to. This would never happen. There was no way you're gonna say it, tell me.
Then I'm married to someone. Someone's married to me. Our kid just got taken. And I run off to go and look for them.
And your response is, oh, don't worry. They know what they're doing. Neither go to help. They say where you going.
Now you go to say like, do you need assistance? Nothing. And just run off and go and do that. I was like, yeah, all right, I'm good.
And then even, and then every after that was like, yeah, I'm good. It just didn't make any sense to me. I was like, the plot was like, oh clones. And then to do all that, to do all of that, kill people, show up with the red suits and the scissors.
Yeah, to then say you want to hold hands. I was like, really? That's it? He's gonna hold hands?
That's all? That's it, I'm moving in. It's it, that's it. Nothing else.
You're not gonna take over the world. Maybe you've seen a lot of older horror movies. Dominate, you know, or? I've seen a lot of older horror movies.
Yeah. Like not all of them end with all the questions. There's someone that's kind of end with just like, oh, I guess they like those movies either. I guess I guess we're just gonna end with the aliens swooping in on the planet from outer space.
Like you've seen like, we've had that kind of happen before. Here's the thing. I don't, I don't want to talk about it now. I don't want to give excuses because as far as I know, if someone has heard something about it, please let me know Jordan is not attempting to parody any genres in this film, right?
So, but he does like to subvert genres sometimes by using turn elements that don't make sense or whatever. Just that he did more of a well put together job and get out at incorporating those ideas, mainly because of two things. One, get out was focused on less people. And it was more like, get out played more like a book than us did.
Us played more like a, well, not as well written book. But you would read that and be like, okay, like you would have to try and fill in a bunch of cells, but get out is very, there's not a lot of things to fill in because everything's kind of happening at the house. It doesn't kind of happen in one of this presentation. It's not gonna happen, you know what I'm saying?
So you can keep everything in his box and you can make it work a lot better because you know we have Ramen to throw it. So, for me, I don't know. I just feel like, I mean, the parameter is here, but it's like- Us doesn't like that. Us is more like, you know, Santa Cruz, something happening at the kid.
And I kind of like how they held a lot of different things together, like his thing. The movie felt like he was writing it over the course as he was making it, as he was putting the story together. He was also thinking about the film. I don't know, and I wanna hear his process if it's different from Get Out to see how he put it together because when he talks about, now he pulled different ideas.
I just think that sometimes when you pull different ideas, all of them don't always mess together. I felt like, like you said at that scene when she took the boy, it switched into like Act Three. You know what I'm saying? Like any movie like it's Act Three.
He's like, all right, what's gonna happen now? We're gonna have Act Three happen downstairs. You know, like that's what we're gonna be at now. And that's what a final bow is gonna happen.
And that's what we're gonna go to twist. So if you watch any In My Sh I feel like he's trying to do something very artistic. He's trying to incorporate real life fears into horror, right? And things like Easter egging that you have to like go in, dig out.
And I'm like, that's cool. Sometimes, but sometimes I just wanna enjoy the movie. Like, you know what I mean? Like I want to be able to like understand why the antagonists and the protagonists are doing what they're doing.
And I got why the tethers, well, I'm not gonna get out of the way, but why the tethers were doing what they were doing. I got it. How long, how long, how long, they gonna hear this win? Like they're gonna hear this, the movie's gonna be off for like a month?
I don't know. I'm not sure. By this time? No.
Like we can, you know, like, we'll just explore the alert. Well, I just, okay. So like, you know, I'll be found out the real, the real girl was switched as a kid. So the one, If you guess that, like give us a like or let us know what it's like, when did you guess it?
I guess it at some point because, I guess it when she was walking downstairs and I was like, how the fuck did she know where to go? I guess that before that, when she killed the girl in the house and it sounded like to her. And I was just like, yeah, I'm like, no, it's up. I see, I thought in my mind, see this is why I said, my mind went somewhere else.
I thought it was like a thing where it was like, they was like, slowly their souls were switching places. That's what I thought. That would have been kind of the thing. Like at the end, like, you know, she made her do so many crazy things.
She's like, oh, like you, you know, she starts to talk clear and clear. Like a tether is more like a mystical power thing. Like, yeah, that was a fire. And instead it doesn't really get expound upon.
No. It's just like, oh, hey, we met with each other. And it's like, okay, to a thought. Now the movie started with saying, there are thousands of miles of tunnel under the US, right?
So I suspect that. Does that mean that if someone goes to like, I don't know, like I said, like a, if you leave Santa Cruz or that person follow you underground, because you see that people trying to make the most of the best of the abilities. So now I think happened that a couple of things happened. The miraculous turn of events that led to having Adelaide meet her doppelganger was a very concise set of movements.
I don't know if anyone who walks into the funhouse also had to double what had the same necessary amount of movements. Because think about it. She walked down the street, right? Passed a guy down the steps toward a boardwalk, turned around, walked back towards the building.
Like, what if, you know, just from when they were standing at, in that moment, they aligned up, and their patterns are walking and it's led. It's kind of like playing like an Etchus guy. You have to kind of match it up. And I feel like, now it was kind of, it was kind of, it was kind of, it was kind of cool, but it was a point like, red or Adelaide realized that something was up and she started kind of being followed or more intensely on point.
And so they met face to face. And I feel like the tethers feel something along because they don't have to, because they're tether to their upper selves. But I feel like they're trying to push a commentary more so than anything else. That's why it's hard to get your head around, like just what happens, because they're trying to push this idea to you that Americans have the shadow we pass that we keep trying to unify and it doesn't work out.
That's what made that, I think that's what ruined the movie for me. I think it ruined the movie for me was like, how everyone, before I saw the movie, and what people were saying what the movie was about, and I just big takeaways and all this stuff, and you know, super, super workship, you know what I'm saying. And then after I watched the movie, and I didn't get none of that, I got it, they're not really, you know, after I watched the movie, it became this thing, you know, like I think that's my thing about like artistic things, when something's like super artistic, compared to something that's more like straightforward. My thing about super artistic things, like the people that become pompous decays when it becomes like they have to explain it, is like I don't like the people that feel like, if I don't like it or really get the point that I'm not smart enough to understand it.
No, I just don't, it's not clear bro, like honestly it's not clear, like it's really not like, my thing is like I always felt like the most like, the most brilliant person to me is a person that can make something understandable to everybody, someone that might be able to, that might no more, it might no less, like if you got someone sitting there saying, oh man, this is super meta, this is super, whoa, like you know what I'm saying, yeah, us is not states, yeah, woo, you know what I'm saying, I'm a person like what the hell did I just watch? Then you didn't really hit your point bro, I'm sorry, like you only hit the meta, you know, the super wok, that's what I said, I wasn't woken up to understand this movie, bro, I said I was like, I'm not, like I'm not looking this deep into the movie, I'm trying to watch the movie, like and then what, like I said, that's what I was thinking about, get out, get out was, it was all of that, but at the end of the day it was a good movie, the story was very clear, it wasn't like you didn't have to, like all the things I discovered after the fact was like, oh I didn't notice that, it was like little detail things, but like as far as the game, what the movie was about, it was very clear, it was nothing for me to be confused about watching that movie, honestly. Right, right, the movie, as you were talking about was like, the movie is there's not gonna be a point where you like, oh why did they do this? No, they're here, this way we're doing it, this way I can do that, and you look later on.
Oh, this way I just happened, this way I just happened, like the questions I could ask in the movie primarily, the question I got the questions are normal questions, they could ask in the movie and answer it. If you're gonna ask yourself like, What is it playing after the flinking hands thing? That's not definitely moving to answer. If you're going to ask yourself, why did everyone else easily kill the doppelgangers?
But the answer is that Red was the one who obviously did not come from this place and arrested and followed her. So she was the leader. And she wanted to have to be a cool revenge upon her doppelganger. And failed completely.
And failed. And my thing was, even with that, bro, I was like, all right, she want to revenge. You got me time. She could have got revenge, bro.
You got me times, bro. From the moment she took her kid, bro. She couldn't. You know what I want to do?
If I want to revenge, I want to took your kid. Kill him. By the time you showed up to find your kid, your kid would have been hanging on his head for you to see. And you have a breakdown.
And then I kill you. That's the thing that killed you. I would have a great revenge. The fake Adelaide fouls, the fake Adelaide fouls, the fake Adelaide had these kids in his family.
And then you encounter these real people. And you get above ground. And you don't start saying, like, hey, that girl stole my life. She stole my life.
But I think that what happened is that she was the young where she started to sympathize with the fact that they would have abandoned experiments. And you got to suspend this belief. Like, everybody's had copy of every person in America at some point in time. And it's like, cool.
But moving to the answer, because how many movies just had some really random ass experimentation. And it really does happen. It's just that expanded a mile. It would be like maybe to copy everybody.
Coney and Winner, Littler, Refurler, never mind. I thought, you know, body snatchers. You never know. So I think it would have been cooler if they were slowly.
I think it would have been cool if they were slowly integrating. It's a great idea. I thought it would have been cooler. That's me personally.
And I thought that would have been interesting to see, like, oh, hey, if I can do it, everyone else can do it too. I'm going to start trying to get them. I think something that would have been cool, never going through the week in the evening a little bit. I think that one thing that would have been cool was having an old man always be from the underground, the old man that holds the Jeremiah.
Yeah. I wanted it to be like he was always switched. And the dude that was downstairs was the real guy. And at the end, like, you know, that's why he got that's why that's why I ended up with a fake one that I killed.
And like, it'd be interesting seeing him being like, yo, like, I don't know what the hell is going on because he obviously was at the beach. So if that guy can get killed and get out, then now obviously, Adelaide was like, you know, Red was like, listen, we're going to do this and all that. And I mean, they'll understand it's some extent, but they probably were so violent to one thing about sleeping or something that is walking out the door. But it would just tether to violence to try to follow the actions of whoever they were attached to.
That's what I'm thinking. Red obviously had a mind of her own because she wasn't born like that. But, you know, you just kind of, if you were out of the movie, it's fun to watch. It's a story.
And they didn't even like the yo, and like that soul thing, that soul type of thing. They kind of left that alone. They kind of, they didn't really yo, and that's what got me tight too, bro. Why was a little boy that only one that understood that?
He was the only one that got that. He was the only one when he, you know, backed up and then I went back up to it. I was like, no one else figured that should have been so young. I don't know, because look, I think of it this way.
It happened with the father. I was watching when he did the thing with his glasses. The other one did it too. I think that was, but he had tentatively copied him.
No, I think that was the soul thing. He was looking at him. He wasn't. No, he was looking down like this, and he said, and did the thing, the same thing that the father did.
And that's when the father said, yo, what are you, he said, that's what he said, who are, like, what are you, people, that's what he said, like right after that. Okay. So I was like, all right, all right, all right, fine. So we'll say that.
It's seen, doesn't it seem your master level of intelligence though? He lacked it. How much control? Yeah, I don't know.
Think about it. Like the kids had the most control. That kid seen Farrell as hell. The father was the next one who seen Steph away from that.
And they was Abraham and whatever the hell. That sounded like a dude I don't know a lot about nothing. And then the daughter was, her name was Umber, which is like, some kind of word for like Darcy and Umbreon. You didn't shoot it on any Abraham and Doris.
No, no, no. No matter. But go ahead. So, and she was running and all that.
So she was very on point. Like, and then obviously it's red. So it also could be that even with the one, even with the one that was running, I was like, all right, yeah, you want to chase it. I got it.
Cool. But you could have killed it, bro. Like there was nothing stopping. And then for her to show, like I want to kill you now.
I was like, OK, all right. OK, fine. A lot of it. A lot of it.
Like when you think about it, if you, if this was the 80s and you went to a see this movie, you want to go home, but like, why do they play around with them like that? You want to give it shit that much. That's the thing. This is not the 80s.
I know. It's not the 2019, everyone. And we have, you know, listen, but at the end of the day, we got to look at this age and nostalgia now. We talked about this, bro.
People like Pan or Mives to certain things. Captain Marvel. Marvel is a good example of how you take a story and layer it with good things, get out with also a good example, because get out was very so direct, even if you wasn't trying to make points about race, just the casting and the story alone would have made points about race. You know what I'm saying?
Like that story was so tight. Like you could have, little rel could have been a white guy. Like think about that. Like little rel the character, like you could have easily been an any race person.
Yeah, honestly. You're going to have to be a black person. Yeah. But the idea behind it was directly black and white.
Like the recu like we're taking. And then you can take that and not be any kind of woken. Just take what you want from it. This whole thing where Hands in America goes to a lot of people's heads because you have to connect the beginning and end of the movie.
And then you have to also know that Hands in America was a real thing that didn't work that people tried to do. So if you understand the elements that you pulled from, then you start applying those things in a movie. That's why. That's why everyone is like watching Family Guy.
Not everyone gets to someone to show references. So the end of the show doesn't make any sense because they don't understand references in what things are paying homage to. But that's no fault of the consumer. You know, that's the people who decide to do these certain things.
Cinematic wise and sometimes I could have a great shot to great the angles are great. I like how they kind of. The performances. A lot of Lupita smashed this road, bro.
Like out the park. Yeah, she looks really good and scary scared. Like I was like, yo, like this is a dude. Both parents get a shit out of me.
Yeah, not everyone got to play two roles, which was kind of funny. The White Fang Planner boy, they'll play what's kind of very funny to me. I enjoyed all of it. So even with that, bro, that got me hot too.
When the White Fang me took her. I was like, oh, she did. I was like, oh, that's it. Yeah.
But now the his thing is it possible that they all know who she is because they know who their leader is. So they know that they're not supposed to kill her. Leave her for red. Is that possible?
It's possible. But it'd be nice if that would have been explaining to God damn it. Not going to explain that, bro. That's all I'm saying.
They chained her up. They chained her up. They figured like, OK, well, we can't. We can't cut it together.
It'd have been nice if they was doing it because she was saying something and saying like, oh, and pointing it out. And like, oh, she coming for you. Like, that would have been great. This so I can know, like, oh, there's a point for you keeping her alive.
Like, honestly, you making me have to like, you make it. That's what I feel like he was doing in this movie. He's making me have to figure out the story he's trying to tell me. And I'm like, that's cool.
But like, I don't want that. That's not why I paid money to come see a movie. I want you to tell me this. I'm paying the seed, the story you're trying to show me.
I'm not trying to figure out. And be like, yeah, let me. Let me. No, no, no.
You do it. This is what you do, right? Yeah, this is what you do it. This is what you're trying to.
OK. All right. Yeah. No, I felt like it's just the thing that he decided to pull from.
He's saying the hand America thing. He said he's seen the better thing. I really thought that was so corn. I just felt like I felt like the funny thing I get now.
I found it. But I get it. At first, I was like, yeah, boys are type creepy though. I can hold you.
They really are. So I kind of get it. They were creepy. I didn't have the money for the state of the place.
They were the first things that humankind cloned apparently. Right. That's when I assumed all our math. When I spent movie first started, I was like, I kept looking at the money really hard to see anything they represented, like in their colors and all that.
It was one black money, but it didn't really matter. To me, I was like, OK, it's not the McClone. And because bunnies are cloned. And I know there's no other reason why we're looking at all these fucking bunnies other than they're being cloned.
So I got that. And I think commercial wasn't. I'm like, OK, this is the time period. I'm like, OK, this is the time period.
I said, the time period is going to be very influential on the feel of the movie. What people wrote the movie for me, bro? I'm sorry. That's the thing.
A lot of people, if you were an 8-minute good point earlier, do not have people feeling bad at the end and work away with some serene Nirvana about the movie. Like they walked away and said, oh, I thought it was cool. How they went up there and said, oh, I like to end there. I thought they had the American thing with cool.
I thought it was interesting. Maybe they want to demonstrate whatever they got. Nothing fucking have it. Like, don't go on bashing the movie.
I'm like, I don't give a shit about the plot or whatever. I thought it was kind of funny. And the thing, the movie still had its funny points. Yeah, so that's a good movie.
In a funny film, and that's why the movie couldn't be necessarily scary because you can't have funny points in a horror movie. So it was it was horror and suspense in the classic sense, where the cinematography was scary. The score was scary. Like, I'll be hitchhiking.
It was about birds, bro. Like, think about that. The birds aren't scary about himself. But the way he shot that, the way he did that, made that scary.
That's what I think people are talking about. At least critics when they say this is a scary movie. We don't think that shit, obviously. We think he's expecting jump scares.
And it was jump scares. But he wasn't really like, I was not pressed. Everybody was over there jumping. I'm sitting there watching and laughing every time.
I'm like, y'all dead ass be. It wasn't that serious. Like, it wasn't that serious. Well, y'all wild and bro.
I just kind of wished that, all right, you know what? Let's do week and a week now. My week and a week was the husband for a fact. What do you mean, like, just like everything?
Like the fact? Are you going to say the fact that he could have gotten killed a long time ago? Oh, yeah. Absolutely.
There was no reason for that. There was no reason for him to vote. There was no reason for him to be alive. There was no reason for him to take on the boat.
There was no reason for him to say, oh. He was life at the end. There was no reason for him to be like, oh, you know what? We should just hang out here and wait here.
Like, why? You just noticed that like, y'all, another family that looked exact, that other family just got killed. Why would you want to wait in the house? Right.
Yeah. And I was like, but here's the thing. Like, I don't think they, again, you could have replaced all the characters with different races and things still would have went away or went off in the same general direction, like to some extent. Again, Jordan is not trying to make race like a prominent, like, like, he's not trying to say, oh, like, yes.
And get out the black. I think it was a part of it. I think that that was definitely a part of it. It would be specifically because the story called for it.
Yeah. So this is not specifically calling for the family to be black. And that's why we have a hard time with black people looking at that and saying, like, we want to do that. You could have switched the families and still been telling.
It's like, if you're in a horror movie, they do do shit like that. You do have protagonists who go off in the mail. He's not there. And we'd be like, why would you leave her?
But that happens. And we'd be like, OK, because she's a female character. So, you know, plot. Sometime does that.
And when you have a movie, you got to push an actor before you got to be a big actor. And I think that's the thing about those movies. That's the thing about those movies. When they do that crap, guess what happens?
That person dies, bro. That's what happens. That's why I didn't like the movie. I didn't like that specific part about the movie.
I was like, yo, when people do dumbass shit in horror movies, what happens? They die. And what happened here? You did dumbass shit with no consequences?
Nah. The only person, listen, the only person I thought that probably should have gotten dead or whatever was a dad. Only because he got hurt immediately. Immediately.
He had the nurse who liked the rest of the movie. Got dragged around. He was looping the entire movie. Outside.
Now, the whole boat thing was interesting. But they set up the boat thing specifically to have him be able to kill that guy. But if this thing never got a boat, he would have gotten killed right then and there, probably. I'm sure trying to figure out why.
At least whenever Red said it was him. I for the love of me and as much as I try to look into this and figure out how meta or deep you join him trying to be with this part, I could not for the love of me understand why Abraham, the teddy, did not kill him right at the steps. He takes him on the boat and puts a plastic bag over him. I do not for the love of God understand why he did that.
