Catholic Social Teaching and the Family --Bo and Bud--01/30/19
from The UnCommon Good with Bo Bonner and Dr. Bud Marr · host Bo Bonner and Dr. Bud Marr
Bo and Bud discuss Catholic social teaching in relation to the family--how economies should be structured to serve the family and not the other way around. Per Catholic teaching, the family is the basic unit of community life, such that no society can be truly healthy without fostering conditions within which the family can thrive. All that being said, the family is not simply the insular nuclear family. Rather, families need the support of the broader community and should, in turn, do all they can to strengthen communal bonds at both the neighborhood and city-wide levels.
