I’m Stephanie LI.大家好,我是主持人李莹亮。Coming up on today’s program.重点提要 -A strong cold wave is set to hit most parts of China;-Top market regulator fined 11 firms including Alibaba and Tencent for violating anti-monopoly rules.Here’s what you need to know about China in the past 24 hours 中国经济要闻China enters the “freezing mode” as the meteorological authority renewed a blue alert for cold wave on Saturday, affecting most parts of the country.The National Meteorological Center released three separate alerts for cold air, strong winds and snowstorms on Sunday as the cold air mass that began to affect China on Friday marched across the country.From 8 am Saturday to 8 am Tuesday, temperatures are expected to drop by 6 to 10 degrees Celsius from northwest to southeast China, the centre forecast. On Monday, the cold air is expected to rapidly descend southward and affect most of the central and eastern parts of China.The previous cold waves have brought losses to companies and sent consumer prices of both food and non-food products to surge. China Oil And Foodstuffs Corporation announced last week that the extreme weather has slashed 180 to 300 million yuan of the company’s annual revenue since October. Prices of vegetables have gone wild in the past few weeks due to floodings in some provinces and postponed transportation. And the price of pork has experienced a continuous increase of 35 percent cumulatively during the past five weeks.In response to the cold waves, wholesale and markets around the country have actively conducted early storage. An official with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs reassured that China will be able to meet the demands of vegetables for the population, as the output of multiple meat products and fruits have both increased.On the other hand, cold weather has brought challenges to China’s energy supply as the country is slowly recovering from its most severe energy crunch in decades.
