I’m Stephanie LI.大家好，我是主持人李莹亮。Coming up on today’s program.重点提要 - The industrial output was up 0.7% in May, as the economy emerges from epidemic woes;- China released sweeping plan to build Guangzhou’s Nansha into a "major strategic platform" for global cooperation.Here’s what you need to know about China in the past 24 hours 中国经济要闻China's May industrial production expanded 0.7 percent year-on-year, reversing a drop of 2.9 percent in April, indicating strong signs of rebound and resilience of the world's second-largest economy after Omicron flare-ups dealt a heavier-than-expected blow to major economic activities last month.Retail sales, a main gauge of consumption, slid 6.7 percent in the period, better than the 11.11 percent plunge in April, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on Wednesday. Fixed-asset investment saw steady growth in the first five months, jumping 6.2 percent from a year earlier to 20.6 trillion yuan, yet the number slowed from a 6.8-percent increase in the first four months. In May, fixed-asset investment picked up 0.72 percent from a month earlier. China’s investment in property development went down 4 percent year on year from January to May, standing at 5.21 trillion yuan. Investment in residential buildings came in at 3.95 trillion yuan, down 3 percent year on year. The surveyed urban unemployment rate stood at 5.9 percent in May, down 0.2 percentage points from April. A total of 5.29 million new urban jobs were created from January to May.During Wednesday’s press conference, Fu Linghui, spokesperson for the NBS, said China’s economy has gradually overcome the negative impacts of the epidemic, with main indicators showing marginal improvement in May. However, Fu noted that the international environment has become more complex, and domestic economic recovery still faces difficulties and challenges. Looking into the future, the country will effectively coordinate epidemic prevention with economic and social development, step up macro policy adjustments and make every effort to ensure the implementation of pro-growth policies to promote sustained economic recovery, Fu said. 中国经济5月呈复苏态势，主要经济指标回暖，工业、消费、投资等经济指标出现改善。15日上午国新办举行的新闻发布会上，国家统计局新闻发言人、国民经济综合统计司司长付凌晖表示，随着国内疫情防控形势总体改善，稳增长的政策措施效果逐步显现，5月我国经济运行的积极变化有所增多，主要指标多数出现改善。但也要看到，国际环境更趋复杂严峻，国内经济恢复仍面临不少困难挑战，主要指标增速还处于低位，恢复基础还需要巩固。从供给侧来看，生产供给在逐步回升。付凌晖分析，物流保通保畅的效果不断显现，企业复工复产有序推进，工业、服务业均出现了回升。工业生产由降转升。5月份，规模以上工业同比增长0.7%，上月为下降2.9%。其中，制造业5月份增长了0.1%，上月为下降4.6%。服务业降幅也出现收窄。从需求侧来看，国内的需求也有所恢复。疫情防控形势总体向好，生产生活秩序逐步恢复，稳投资、促消费政策的作用下，市场需求逐步改善。市场销售降幅收窄。5月份，社会消费品零售总额同比下降6.7%，降幅比上月收窄4.4个百分点。投资平稳增长。1-5月份，固定资产投资同比增长6.2%，保持基本稳定，其中基础设施投资增长6.7%，增速比1-4月份加快0.2个百分点。付凌晖还指出，5月份就业改善、物价总体稳定。经济运行逐步恢复，稳就业政策持续发力，就业状况出现好转，城镇调查失业率下降。5月份，全国城镇调查失业率是5.9%，比上月下降0.2个百分点。关于近期市场上讨论较多的二季度中国经济能否实现正增长，付凌晖回应称，6月份随着一揽子稳增长政策措施的落地见效，经济运行有望进一步改善。如果疫情能够得到有效控制，各项稳增长措施落地见效，在各方面共同努力下，二季度经济有望实现合理增长。China's actual use of foreign capital reached $87.77 billion in the first five months of 2022, up by 22.6 percent year-on-year, data from the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) showed on Tuesday. The plan aims to build Nansha into an important carrier and strong support for Hong Kong and Macao to better integrate into overall national development. Specifically, creating a major scientific and technological innovation platform will be a major task for Nansha's future development. A youth entrepreneurship and employment cooperation platform will also be built in Nansha. A high-level opening-up portal will be built to provide comprehensive support for Chinese enterprises to "go global" and enhance the function of international shipping and logistics.The plan will also support Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau institutions to set up yuan-denominated funds for overseas investments and loans. It backs qualified investors from Hong Kong and Macau to open licensed financial institutions such as securities companies, futures companies and fund companies in Guangdong. Nansha will have an annual quota of 10 billion yuan for new local government debts.
