CCA Month - Heather Roy Part 1 - Evelyn's Cancer Diagnosis

A conversation with Heather Roy, about her daughter Evelyn's cancer diagnosis. A story that after a long road, came to a point of Evelyn's passing. It is raw, real and full of emotion. Heather shares with us how, after her daughter complained of stomach pains for a couple of days, they ended up taking her to the ER. After an ultrasound, Heather was fairly confident it was appendicitis, but by the time they returned back to their ER room, she was quickly informed that this was a cancer diagnosis, that turned their families world upside down. Taken at ransom (as Heather would say) down a long road of harsh treatments for 11 year ofd Evelyn, only to find more tumours had grown back. After looking for alternative treatments, they were accepted for a trial treatment in Toronto, they made the journey out east. But the tumors grew too quickly for the trial to take effect. In part 1 of this story, Heather so graciously shares the hard road this family took and many of the ways that their family chose to find joy and light in the hardest time.
