Celebrate the Wonder of God's Gift

Good morning! What is the best gift you have ever received? What made it so great? Seriously - I want you to think about it. What constitutes a great gift? I'm asking because I'm still trying to figure out what to buy Michelle for Christmas. Only kidding. It's Christmas time and most of us are thinking about giving (or receiving) presents. It brings us a lot of joy to be able to search for, purchase, and give specific gifts to those we love. We tend to assign a lot of value to the whole process. There's something really significant about what we give and why we give it. (Guys - if you are not aware of this - it's time to get with the program!) Why is this? And where did this Christmas gift-giving tradition begin, anyway? It's a reflection. It's serve as a pointer. It's a reminder. It's meant to help us "get" one of the greatest, truest wonders of Christmas: God's gift to us in His Son. There is truly no gift greater. We should not bypass the reality of His gift this Christmas and all that went into giving it. We should not bypass the amazement that it can be freely received. In finding our deepest satisfaction and identity in His gift to us (Himself), I pray all others this season will find their proper place. We're so glad you're here!
