Celebrating American Beach’s Legacy | Jacksonville News

This past weekend, American Beach Weekend returned with a vibrant celebration of Florida’s historic African American community—featuring beach walks, jazz and comedy shows, a fish fry, golf tournaments, and an art exhibit called Legacy in Color. Local authors, quilts, worship services, and even a Harvard Divinity School dean led discussions on culture and economic growth. More than just fun, the event honors founder Abraham Lincoln Lewis while building momentum for the future—keeping American Beach’s legacy alive for generations.
