Every year on May 15, the world observes the International Day of Families.  The General Assembly established the Day in 1993. It was created to  reflect the importance that the international community places on  families. This important day is an excellent opportunity to raise  awareness of familial issues and increase knowledge of the social,  financial, and demographic problems concerning families worldwide.
