Ch.18 p.153-157 Memoirs of Joseph Smith lll A Fertile Land

Joseph Smith lll shows great interest in the farming techniques and crops grown and speaks of the fertile soil and also of squirrel pests being poisoned to stop them eating the crops. He mentions seeing a scotch thistle growing with a scotch pioneer and brought with him from Scotland so he felt more at home. The subheadings are:- A Fertile Land, Fellow Workers, Baptisms, Two Testimonies and An Alarming Illness. The two testimonies were conversations regarding enquiring confirmation about spiritual wifery and poligamy from a man and woman that knew of Joseph Smith Junior, but neither had anything to say to confirm. The alarming illness caused Joseph Smith lll to wonder if his time was up or whether he had more work to do and he had a witness he had more work to do and that he would live to see the name of Latter Day Saint made honourable.
