Ch.19 p.157-164 The Memoirs of President Joseph Smith lll In The West

The tension rises in this episode, half way through, as Joseph Smith lll walks the strèets of Salt Lake City. He is apprehensive as people pass by his trying to ignore him or be cold towards him, creating anxiety and depression within Joseph Smith lll. Some who wanted to talk to him did so in a way that made it not obvious to be seen or caught, even visiting his cousin John, son of Hyrum, he still felt depressed. Fortunately Joseph Smith lll's spirits were raised by a member of the Reorganisation who chatted to him even though she had jut given birth to her 12th child. He was then inspired how to present his message, that of sticking to the teachings of the church at the time of his father's death. He had noted no change had been made to revelation prior to 1844. Joseph Smith lll stayed in Salt Lake 3 weeks before he was well to converse as he had neuralgia and a tooth pulled before he arrived. Before he arrived at Salt Lake City he had been in Nevada and shared stories of seeing an indian sleeping in brush and of an arrowhead shape in a hillside, also shared stories of seeing sliver and gold being mined and smelted. He enjoyed some refreshing water too and was glad to see some ice which joyed his heart to think of the climate of his home state.
