Ch.29 p.280-284 The Memoirs of President Joseph Smith lll
from Green Eyes Yolanda · host Yolanda Tranquille Geer
Subheadings:- Old Friends, A Patriotic Celebration, Some Church Members, To Points Further North, Cousin Josephine, Doctor Isaacson, and Joseph Kingsbury. I must admit this episode irritated me but it has to be remembered that these memoirs are from a bygone era. Joseph Smith lll speaks about it being illadvised for women to divorce their husbands. My own personal experience in marriage has been my body treated like it is thd ownership of the husband, to be assaulted and raped and also to be treated like a possession and not as an equal, being used as a maid, cook, housewife and not treated with care or consideration or love ... and that by membership in the LDS church. I do not know how President Joseph Smith lll treated his wives, i have not read any journals of his wives but i do know from reading these Memoirs that his poor wives were left for months on end whilst hd did missionary work for decades. I have my own personal opinions, that if Adam and Eve were to be companions to each other, that one was not above the other and that worked as a team. I believe that the same should occur in missionary work where there are companions. That is my opinion. Another iritation i had was Joseph Smith lll arrogance in his thoughts on his cousin Josephine's poetry oh and remarks about some artwork. Yes, share opinions but he seemed quite harsh. This episode includes a discussion where poligamy is discussed.
