Openbaring 8 doet verslag van de plagen die God naar deze aarde zal brengen. Een van de meest cruciale vragen hier is of de heiligen bij degenen zullen zijn die onder deze plagen zullen lijden. De Bijbel vertelt ons dat de heiligen ook door de plagen van de zeven bazuinen zullen gaan. De heiligen zullen alle behalve de laatste van de zeven plagen doorstaan. Deze plagen van de zeven bazuinen die in dit hoofdstuk voorkomen, zijn de eigenlijke plagen die God naar deze aarde zal brengen.
