from Support, Protect, Empower - The Project Purpose Podcast · host Rachelle Innocent

Challenging the Expectations that Do Not Serve Us | 3 Social Norms We Are Better Off Abandoning 👀 ✅ Not all expectations are created equal. While the expectations that people have of us are often tied to the contexts we find ourselves in, most of these "rules of engagement" are hardcoded in our social norms. We can expect what people expect of us, because we're all equally proficient at enforcing and imposing these social norms on others. Oftentimes without thinking about why think the way we think, about the boxes we fit ourselves and others in. And when someone challenges those ideals and those norms... maybe it's time we start giving them permission... and giving ourselves that same permission, too. Do you have any questions?
