Chandler City Council Regulates Electric Bikes

Send us a text and chime in!At the June 11 meeting, the Chandler City Council adopted an ordinance to add regulations regarding the use of electric bicycles. The Ordinance was adopted tentatively at the May 21 City Council meeting and will take effect July 11. Electric bicycles (E-bikes) have become increasingly popular in recent years. To address the increasing popularity of E-bikes and the subsequent increase in related injuries, many valley cities have adopted regulations limiting how, where, and by whom different classes of E-bikes can be operated. Chandler did not have local E-bike regulations and followed Arizona state law prior to adopting these regulations.
