Change Your Diet, Save The World Pt 2

from Life in HD · host Joe B Lee

Is avoiding meat and dairy products the single most efficient way to reduce our environmental impact on the planet?  It's a big question and one that won't be easily answered here.  But logic tells us, based on available data, that reducing demand for meat and dairy products can have a meaningful impact on greenhouse gasses. Americans consume on average over 222 pounds of meat per person per year. From deforestation to water pollution to methane producing livestock, agriculture's carbon footprint is massive. Part to of Change Your Diet, Save The World examines how meat production and big agriculture is affecting our climate.  I'm joined by Robert M. Wilson, Associate Professor of Geography at Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs, to talk about how adopting a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle, or simply reducing your meat consumption can have a positive impact on the planet.
