Chapter 1 of "Horizon: An American Saga" Review: Kevin Costner's

With Yellowstone and its many spin-offs, Costner has been nursing the cascading prose of the television format under Sheridan for years. His formal choice for this maelstrom of a genre leaves him much closer to that format's cascading prose than to the lyrical moral folds of that almost masterpiece called Open Range (2003), released 20 years ago, which translates into a much flatter and more arbitrary narrative in Horizon on Soap2Day Movies. It's as though the purportedly original position of television shows has been reconfigured and distilled into elongated feature films through the fusion of episodes, all for the lovely goal of regaining the entire cinematic experience. Still, there are a lot of emotional benefits to be found in this scenario, particularly if one is a Western lover who takes these gifts without hesitation.
