Instead, THIS IS SPINAL TAP is a creation of Rob Reiner, and as his oddball former commercial director Marti DiBergi becomes fascinated with the hard nosed lifestyle of the Squatney band Spinal Tap, we too are enraptured with his "rockumentary." Featuring a banging soundtrack and the improvised brilliance of Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer, THIS IS SPINAL TAP births a genre and leaves us dreaming of the next time we can eat a shit sandwich so sublime.
