Bio: Bill is a professor of English at UW Oshkosh and the author of many books, including the forthcoming “Robert Bloch and the Psycho Century: American Horror from Lovecraft to King” and “Concept Album,” a verse novel about the music scene in New York City in 1981. His creative and scholarly writing is available in all of the usual places online and in local bookstores in the Fox Valley. He lives in Appleton with his wife and two daughters.Synopsis:Bill’s new verse novel “If a Clod Be Washed” tells the story of Mr. Bell, a high school biology teacher at a boys high school who, during the course of a day, has an existential crisis that leads him at night to the swamp at the edge of the school’s campus where he confronts his doubts about his profession, religion, marriage, and the meaning of life. The title is drawn from John Donne’s famous poem, “No Man Is an Island” which argues that we are all connected no matter our location, social status, or profession.
