Leaders may expect members to continually devote their personal time, evenings, weekends, and even family time to church programs, activities, or events. This expectation is often framed as “sacrificial living” or a demonstration of “full commitment” to God, where members are subtly or overtly pressured to show their dedication by prioritizing church obligations over personal well-being. While commitment and dedication are essential aspects of spiritual growth, they should not come at the cost of a person’s health, relationships, or overall well-being.
