As stated before, there is no secret formula, you must be committed to consistent growth on this journey to GREATNESS.#1 - HUMILITYSome would say humility is thinking less of you and more of others. This statement is very general and translated two different ways: The first and most common is that we put ourselves down or last, ultimately destroying our own potential through speech and inner dialogue but also in our daily habits. We may say things like:“I have always been sacrificial, putting others before myself, it’s just the way I am.” “I just can’t, you don’t understand my schedule, someday I intend to work on my growth and fitness more. But right now, my family is more important.”“You know me, a klutz and a procrastinator, lol! I have learned to live with it and I am fine.”“It’s just not my way of doing things. I am a very nice person but I have always been this way and I don’t intend to change for anyone.”These statements are deceptive as they make us feel better about ourselves but they are a form of “false humility”. They reflect someone who thinks they are doing their best but in their hearts they know they are primarily looking for accolades or acceptance in their own shortcomings. The second way of interpretation is less common because it requires more effort and more accountability. This form of humility is one of truth, authenticity, compassion and integrity. People who exemplify true humility are never boastful. They think well of others but do not put themselves down in the process. They expect the best of themselves and never blame people or circumstances for things they are responsible for such as their growth, their mistakes and their shortcomings. They are not afraid to apologize when they hurt or offend someone but they don’t “over-apologize”, either. True humility is demonstrated in a calm but strong state of mind that is fully aware and accountable to his/her behavior in every circumstance.Excerpts and insights* from Chapter 10 of "Your Journey to Greatness Through Routine: A Guide to Creating a Success Routine" Book Contains:7 Actual Case Studies8 Downloadable ToolsAssessment Questions at the End of Each ChapterThe Brain Science Behind HabitsRetraining Your Brain Through Cognitive RestructuringHeart Science, Energy and the Law of AttractionPowerful Principles of Influence and GreatnessTips and Tools to Build Your Success Routine*Certain portions have been added to actual book excerpts by the author.  LEARN MORE AND PURCHASE THE BOOK at http://michellesteffes.com/bookSupport the showMichelle L Steffes is a Certified Speaker, Corporate Trainer, Executive Coach and Author of two books: "Reframe & Rewire" (also available on Audible) and "The Machine Inside Me."
