Characteristics of “Ki”「気」の種類

Welcome or welcome back to 3-minute Japanese. 前回予告した通り、漢字の「気」をテーマにお送りしたいと思います。As I stated in the previous episode, we are looking at the kanji “Ki” in this episode. この漢字の読み方は３通りあり、それは「キ」・「ケ」・「ゲ」ですが、ほとんどの場合、「キ」と読みます。 There are three ways to pronounce the kanji character, which are “ki”, “ke”, and “ge”. Most of the time, the word is pronounced “ki”. さて、漢字の「気」が表す意味を大きく５つに分けてみました。I have categorized 5 different characteristics of the word, “ki”. 1. エネルギー、魂：energy and spirit Here are the examples. 例は以下の通りです。 「元気」energetic「やる気」motivation「気力」willpower「病気・びょうき」ailment「勇気・ゆうき」courage「電気・でんき」electricity 2. 空気: Air 例、examples 「大気・たいき」atmosphere, 「雰囲気・ふんいき」ambience「気配・けはい」presence「湯気・ゆげ」steam「気球・ききゅう」air balloon「湿気・しっけ」moisture「換気・かんき」ventilation「天気・てんき」weather「気候・きこう」climate「気圧・きあつ」air pressure 3.
