Chargers’ Season Opener Outlook | Los Angeles Chargers News

Chargers face Cardinals in season opener with injury uncertainty and a revamped offensive line, as Justin Herbert leads a familiar but inexperienced front. New left guard Kayode Awosika, rookie center Jake Slaughter, and veteran Joe Alt anchor the line, while Charlie Kolar and receivers Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston take on bigger roles. Defensively, they’re sticking with last year’s core but adding Dalvin Tomlinson and relying on nickel packages to counter Trey McBride. Tuli Tuipulotu’s hip issue opens the door for Akeem Mesidor, while Marlowe Wax steps up with Denzel Perryman sidelined. Cornerback depth remains a question mark, with Cam Hart potentially key if blitzes increase — how the defense clicks will define their season.
