This time we see the party continuing on their journey when they stumble upon Charicific Valley, which you guessed it, is filled with Charizard. We meet Liza, and her Charizard Charla, who operates a Charizard Sanctuary with a unique approach to training Charizards. While Brock falls in love, we see Ash put his Charizard to the test in both battle and loyalty. Ash feels a bit too over confident, and we see that his Charizard isn’t as formidable as he thinks. There are many clashes between Charizard, with some that are nearly twice the size of Ash’s.  Team Rocket shows up not with an Arbotank, but with a giant Big Catcher trojan horse abomination, as they shift their sights from Pikachu to Charizard. We get to see a bit of Jesse and James’ softer sides, as they actually end up cheering for Ash’s Charizard in battle. That is of course, until they get blasted off… again.
