Welcome to the program. Let's go to the phones right now and talk with Congressman Ralph Norman. Congressman Norman, hope you're doing well, sir. Thanks for joining us. Ralph Norman: Doing great. Glad to be with you, Charlie. Charlie James: So let let me get this straight. You guys are going to be coming back on September the 14th, you're going to work for four days, and then you're off through the midterms, right? Ralph Norman: That's it. Charlie James: That's it? What What Is that any way to run a government? I mean, we Don't we have things to do? Ralph Norman: You know, you would think so, Charlie, but, you know, what's so frustrating, there's no sense of urgency. You have congressmen on CODELs, congressional basically junkets all over the world uh on your tax on our tax money. You You We have the SAVE Act that we passed in February of this past year and still haven't gotten it done in the Senate. We've got over 500 bills that have been held up. And it's just, you know, no, you can't run a family business, you can't run any type business with the way Congress operates. And until we change people out, then it's it's going to be more of the same. Charlie James: Why were they so afraid of you, Congressman Norman? Ralph Norman: They knew I was going to be a disruptor. I was going to blow the Senate up as far as procedure, as far as the filibuster. The The whole Senate, and I I got word later on this, was against me, both Democrat and Republican. And Tim Scott joined in with them. Uh, you know, a congressman from the state joined in with them. Uh, I I hate it for South Carolina to let that Washington money dictate who wins a Senate race in South Carolina. We're too good a state, we have too good a people, but it happened. Money ruled, and it's a sad day in this country, really. Charlie James: One of the prevailing theories out is out there that the Senate Republicans, they don't really want to have the majority. They want to be in the minority. Ralph Norman: Yeah, so they can vote against everything, pound their chest, and say how they were vocal. Where's the act We've got three three branches of government: executive, we got the judiciary, uh we got the House, Senate, and granted a slim majority, but we still have the control, and we don't do anything. Yeah. Um, and it's, you know, not only should no one get paid during this time, you ought to cut the CODELs out and and and go to work and put some of these bills that congressmen, get this, they're scared of voting voting on it because it's controversial. Yeah. We have a franchise agreement uh piece of legislation that would do the franchiseors and franchisees a world of good, a business bill. We can't even get that brought before the House of Representatives. Charlie James: And why not? I mean, wha- what are they afraid of? Ralph Norman: Well, it's always tomorrow. We've We've We've got to make sure we maintain the majority. We've got to maintain the Republican edge. Look, you've got You've got Democrat—I don't know what the difference is now between Democrats and Republicans, to be honest with you. You've got Democrats that run as Republicans who campaign on Republican principles of less taxes, less government, less regulations, and they do the opposite if they do anything. Yeah. But, uh, they were against me for a reason, and that's why I was outspent 10-to-1. And that's why uh why President Trump got involved is still an enigma to me. But he did, and it ...
