Charlie James talks Lindsey Graham's services and rumors about his sister.
from The Charlie James Show Podcast
In this segment of the Charlie James Show, host Charlie James provides updates on the upcoming funeral and memorial arrangements for the late Lindsey Graham, noting scheduled services in Washington, D.C., Columbia, and Pickens. The conversation quickly shifts to political rumors surrounding Graham’s sister, Darlene Graham Nordone, who was recently appointed to fill the vacant Senate seat. Charlie expresses frustration over rumors that Nordone intends to run in the upcoming primary, pointing out that her appointment under "widow's succession" was widely understood to be an interim position to allow for a clean primary without an incumbent advantage. He heavily criticizes Senator Tim Scott for publicly praising Nordone's "remarkable start" after less than two days in office. After taking a call from a listener named Billy who voices support for Nordone, Charlie concludes that breaking the agreement not to run would officially make her a politician.

Full Transcript: Hour 1 Segment 2 Charlie James: All we've got a little information, not much, but we got a little information about the funerals or the services that are being planned for Lindsey Graham. We do not know anything about whether or not he's going to be lying in state in in the rotunda or anything like that just yet. I hear they are working on those and they'll probably be revealed uh revealing a lot of that very soon, but we got several um, I don't know if they're technically be funerals or memorial services or whatever. Uh one is going to be in Washington DC on July the 28th. Now this has taken um sort of a life of its own um because a lot of people from around the world, a lot of foreign dignitaries, a lot of foreign leaders, both current and retired or or no longer in service, um they want to come to the United States and attend and they're asking for this to be um, you know, for them to have time to make travel arrangements and all of that. So one memorial service or the funeral, I'm not sure which one it is, uh is going to be Tuesday, July 28th in Washington DC. Then, Wednesday, July 29th, there will be a service in Columbia and another service in Pickens. We don't have the times or the locations for either one of those and as soon as we get that we will certainly bring that to you. Um... one of the deals that was supposed to be was that when Henry McMaster appointed Darlene Graham Nordone through what they call the widow succession, um when Governor McMaster appointed her to the seat, I and everybody else thought the deal was that she's not going to run for his his seat. She was going to go in, she's going to do the the job as interim senator, we were going to elect our candidate who is going to run against Annie Andrews coming up in November, and whomever wins that is that's going to be the next senator of South Carolina. Well, looky here, looky here. There are rumors out there right now that Darlene Graham Nordone now wants to run for Lindsey Graham's seat. Ah... now we don't know yet, but this is being reported by several different outlets. The filing window for candidates in the August 11th primary opens up on Tuesday. We could see people like Pamela Evette, I haven't heard anything definite there, um Russell Fry, well, Nancy Mace, maybe, Ralph Norman, definitely, Mark Lynch, definitely, former Governor Mark Sanford, definitely. So what was it, a couple days ago, this was weird. Now wait a minute, this is weird. So on Wednesday, Senator Tim Scott hinted that Darlene Graham—he said Darlene is has so far been off to a remarkable start, why not her? Hold on, hold on, hold on, Tim Scott, just just just a second here. You said that on Wednesday? She was just sworn in on Tuesday. So with one full day, not even, as a senator of South Carolina, Tim Scott is saying, "Oh, she's off to a great start." Well, what could you—gosh! This guy, this guy, please somebody primary him, please, I'm begging you. I'm I'm tired of the do-nothing senator from the low country, Tim Scott, I'm tired of that. Sorry, wonderful guy, great fella, love chatting with them, as a senator it's a no-go. Let's go to Billy in Anderson. Billy, welcome. Billy: Yes sir, yes sir, I I was just uh got back my truck and I heard you say it, because I tell my wife this morning, I said, "You know, I I'd be good with his sister running." You know, they got all these other moving parts about other people. I said, and I heard you and I'll say, "Hey, list- listen loud, Darlene Graham, she's got my vote." Charlie James: Okay, why? Billy: Uh I think just from what I've heard recently, um you know, that um and that from Lindsey with some of these other things... Charlie James: I'm I'm wait a minute, wait, wait, wait, wait, Billy, hold on, you got to repeat that because you were you were breaking up there. Go ahead. Billy: Oh, I'm sorry, yeah, I'm by some power lines. Yeah, um but from what I've, and and I'll say at this point, she's got my I would l ...
